Rally1380 the black thing on the drivers floor is just a piece of metal I forgot to remove for the pictures. Just an extra layer and thank you for addressing the helmet projectile issue. It's just there for show.

Oh right fair enough....just me being nosey...ha ha.

Just wanted to double check on the helmet front, not everyone has 'common sense' and understands that stuff hanging around like that on a parcel shelf is chuffin dangerous in a frontal impact......glad you realise.

Superb car though....huge thumbs up!

Thanks so much! Before I get deeper in the project I just wanted to know if there are a few out here that's done a replica like mine. I found my Monte Carlo rally plate on ebay for $70 only but it has a 1985 and says Service medical in the center. I know I won't be able to afford a "real" rally racecar plaque so I jumped on this one since it has the authentic plate, raised letters and all. It's perfect it says 1985 and I wanted to modify the 8 and turn into a 6 but my first choice #63 is not a bmc cooper and the guy that's going to powder coat the plate will charge me a lot. So I began to think that if I'm paying someone that much I might as well go for an iconic 1960s rally champion. But I already spent a lot on what I have and did not want to waste it.

I've been doing my research for close to a year now about bmc cooper works ex race cars and they are my favorite. Although I am not rich and just a student, my efforts can only go far within the limit of my student budget but the most important thing is that I'm having a lot of fun bring an iconic car to the roads in California and educating people that a car this beautiful exist.

Those were GB wheels 10x6. You need arches for those.

Soo tempted to replicate the champ. But that would be an abomination. Me and my car are so not worthy.

I think the car in your picture may be the replica of EJB that is currently being used at some events. I'd use the car, then if you come across parts that are specific to Works Rally cars and you want to fit them, then do it, as long as you stick broadly to the theme and don't add too much to the car (to the point where it becomes cluttered) you will have something to enjoy.

A couple of quick changes I would make, change the upper and lower dash trims to black (new trim or specific trim paint), look at fitting the correct colour door trims (or again trim paint them)

Right now the dash rails are wrapped with this tan fake leather and Im deciding if Id paint it or remove it. I do volunteer the car at this local highschool for after school program. It is a Wednesday for 2 hours and the kids love it. I have been thinking of going the 33EJB route because I already started the full width black front plate number on the bonnet. I guess I will think this over more and maybe I could try it.

You might be lucky, the original black Cooper Trim might be under the tan coloured material, if not this is available in the UK so I would have thought there would be a similar product in the US, I've used it many times and the results are very hard wearing :-)

Very nice car, hats off

You should paint the chrome trimmings on the instruments panel to a matt black colour

This was a typical works cars feature, to avoid glare
