Got my 1963 Austin Cooper just January this year (2015)> The car was bare and didnt have interior and missing a few chrome pieces on the lower sills. But I managed to somehow find the time to make this car a cool looking replica of the famous BMC Works mini race cars. Although my intention at first was just to add some lights and straps, I found myself slowly heading to the direction where it is somehow getting the look of Paddy Hopkirk's 33EJB #37. A seasoned classic mini owner will know what is still missing or what is wrong with the car (for example: Right hand drive works dash used in a Left hand drive mini or wrong light bar and wrong center spot light) but now Im looking into replicating a specific champion car or perhaps should I just stay with what I currently have (#63) and not care?. I mean Id love to have a nice champion replica but still unsure. (Im not trying to go for a very strict restoration of pieces but period correct elements would be nice) I do have the means to produce decals to replace the numbers and powder coat this authentic Monte Carlo rally plate. But the since the driving lamps are hard to find, I would stick to what I have. Any thoughts?

 Any thoughts?

Yeap, a few anyway;-

1.   Man that's dam nice!

2.  I can see you've put a lot of elbow grease in to that, especially given the time frame and what you started with.

3.   Man, that's dam nice!  (didn't someone already say that?).

4.   It really is a credit to you, a high credit.

5.   Man, that's dam nice!

Many thanks for sharing here :D

And, Man, that's dam nice!

Looks lovely.....but what is sat in the drivers footwell.....flat black thing on top of the mat??

Please please do not drive around with that helmet on the rear parcel shelf....I know you have bungee'd it in place but in an accident that is coming straight towards whoever is in the front - not very clever and certainly wouldn't pass rally scrutineering, so has no place in a rally car.

Beautiful car though !!!!!

Looks stunning! Great attention to detail escpecially with the things like the bulkhead light socket for the spots. I personally prefer the look of the car in the pic with the gold minilites (very Italian Job) but what you have created it beautiful.

P.S. That windscreen wiper will be more effective on the windscreen ;P

Rally1380 the black thing on the drivers floor is just a piece of metal I forgot to remove for the pictures. Just an extra layer and thank you for addressing the helmet projectile issue. It's just there for show.

Craig89: haha yes. That wiper kept falling off to the bottom. I have to figure it out how to fix it because it only does a quarter turn. Thank you.

Madaboutcherry: tank is on the left side. This car is an original North American mini 997. Been in California since the 1960s.

Dzmarc: I'm afraid I've invested too much on this car I doubt I would but thank you! :)
