Well what a day, really please with the progress i made, i feel i have learn so much about minis over the time i have owned them :P

Well this was the start of my new secret project ill make a new project thread about midway through next month. Well i needed to raise runds for my next project, so the 1380 had to go, and eventually ill be fitting a K-series in a custom frame.

The reason the project is so called secret is because i will not be telling my rents that ill be buying it, and the plan is to get it finished then just turn up home with a new mini lol.

So today i had to remove the engine and replace with another engine then drive it home without the rents knowing lol.

So i set off down to my garage this morning telling them im going to my friends house, i got everything dissconected and had the engine lifted out withing 2 hours :shifty: but as i was lifting it out although i had split the pot joints the drivers side one had slipped back on about 5mm, so i then lifted the engine out and the pot joint stayed connected and ripped its way through the inner CV gaiter :P but that was the only problem i came accross when removing it, so i feel it was prety good going really as this was done on my own and only me second proper engine conversion.

Dom then turned up to give me and hand. So we headed over to the mini place and got a new gaiter, got back and i got that fitted. when then got the engine fitted and bolted in place, this would have been prety tricky withough dom's help, cheers mate, so everything was then bolted on fluides were replaced and i gave it a service. I forgot to connect up the linkage thought, so i went to do this, but i couldnt get the bolt through the top linkage arm thingy as the manifold was in the way, so i had to dissconect all them again and i got the linkage fitted. We then put everything back in place and turned the key, and it fied up straight away >_< Did have a fiar amount of white smoke though, but that cleared up after a couple of minutes >_< i think its just from where its been sitting outside for a while so it was burning of the condensed water... Getting it fitted took us 3 hours, so not bad really concidering we had a few problems, i think we could do this closer to 2 hours if no problems occured :P

So overall im prety pleased, the only problem i have is whenever i go in to 3rd gear either going up or down, i get a small crunch, but to be honest im not bothered about that as the engine is only going to be temperary. And the best thing of all the rents didnt have a clue when i turned up home :P it is a bit gutting loesing all the power though ;)

Heres a quick snap i got of its new heart. :)

Haha yea i got it out the car ok, did take some effort as i have to get it out and get to Ashford in 25 mins, so i was sweating like a ******* got it out and hoist the engine out in 10 mins which i was amazed with, but i did scratch the punto to banana lol good job i dont care about that car haha

Yea i cant wait to get my hands on the new project, i went to look at it last night and got back prety late, then stayed on the internet for a bit lol, so i wasnt sure if i could be bothered to to it today, but just before i went to sleep the news on TV was saying it will be good weather today and not soo good thurs and fri lol so i though well iv got to do it today then haha.

Yea i even gave it a quick lick of paint and changed the rocker cover haha, well i drove to the garage and had to wait for my engine to cool down a bit before i could start working on it so i though i should clean it up a bit lol, + it makes it a bit less obvoust to my mum haha, the only difference she might notice is the rocker cover is black, but i i painted that *wink* *wink*

Im not 100% sure, but i dont think the water pump is working properly as when it first started up the water wasnt flowing round as it was still cold in the rad, but if i pushed the hosed then hot water would flow in... but when i drove it home the water was hot in the rad, so it might have freed off, ill have a look in the morning, but if not ill just change that :P should only take 30 mins.

The only things i want to do to Snot now really is put some do the K-series conversion and put some carbon bucket seats in, i have one already, and im planning of taking a mould off that and making some more, but i doubt i will ever bother with doing that haha.

I like the way this is all hush hush. lol. to be honest I didnt get to use the engine much so I didnt really notice any problems and it did sit on the drive for abit. Anyways it not anything that cant be fixed. Also did I leave my big adjustable in your car? Couldnt find it today, I may have just lost it.

Well today i took the car for a spin, but i was thinking surely it cant be a water pump problem thats causing the water flowing so well as it was still circulating a little bit, so i had a look around and realised the fan belt has a slice in it meaning its not getting the correct tension as the split was getting bigger and bigger making it slip round, so i got myself a new belt today and everything is going sweet now :shifty:

Not much done to this really, its still got the blown piston ring, but once i get the minus driving this will be coming off the road ready to have a k-series heart fitted.

Well as i had the cash i brought some watson rear spacers, that also convert the PDC to the metro stud patten.
