I also just added 100bhp to the engine, so even it it doesnt start it will be like poo off a shovel.

Oh yes the red paint came out lol, everyone knows a red engien adds 100BHP haha.

I also painted the top of the rad and the master cylinder bowel.

Well today i gave the engine another coat of paint paint:

Posted Image

I then welded the other bracket on for the exhaust and got the exhaust in place:

Posted Image

Posted Image

I then finished wiring up the solinoid, i also added a perminant live to the acewell digi dash, so that should all be working now ;D

I then offered up the sump gaurd and it looks like there will be just under 3" clearance, ill try and mount it as high as i can, but it doesnt look like im going to have much clearance.

Posted Image

i then fitted the pins to the front of the bonnet:

Posted Image

I then offered some brackets up to the rear of the bonnet, so the rear is raised, me thins it should look prety nice when when fitted to the mini :-

Posted Image

So tomorrow morning ill:

Fit the gear linkage seal
Fit the brackets in place for the bonnet
Fit the clutch return spring
Adjust tappets
Fit the arches
Then fire the engine up :D

Well i put together a list of everything i needed to do to get the mini finished today which included:

Drill out sheered thermostat stud and re-tap
Sealant around thermostat
Antifreeze and water in rad
Fit clutch return spring
Tighten up exhaust bolts
Fit the last two wires on solenoid.
Adjust tappets (16thou)
Fit linkage seal
Bleed front breaks
Adjust clutch
Steering rack U bolts 11ftp
Grease ball joints
Adjust bonnet pins and fit raising brackets.
Fit arches
Get engine running

and i get the following done

Drill out sheered thermostat stud and re-tap
Sealant around thermostat
Antifreeze and water in rad
Fit clutch return spring
Tighten up exhaust bolts
Fit the last two wires on solenoid.
Adjust tappets (16thou)
Fit linkage seal
Bleed front breaks
Steering rack U bolts 11ftp
Grease ball joints
Adjust bonnet pins

So now all i have to do is:

Find a M7 bolt and fit the the thermostat....
Fit bonnet raising brackets.
Fit arches
Get engine running
Also get the wires for the indicators swaped found the other way, as i wires them in backwards :) >_<
Dom will hopefully update with pictures later

Nearly there now

Let there be light! :D

Sorting out the leaky radiator.

Trying to figure out connecting the solenoid

Posted Image

I called Jammy_basturd who kindly went out in the pouring rain and checked his Mini and confirmed that the arrangement we had was correct but for some reason it wouldn't fire up.

Posted Image

It turned out to be a split in the red and white wire so a new wire was put in place and it worked. :o

Posted Image

Time to adjust the tappets. This took us about 40 mins.

Time for a breath of fresh air for Rolling Snot as we turned it round to be jump started by the punto.

That didn't work so we tried Gary's diesel passat, which also didn't work. :geek:

So Tom is going to charge up the battery over night or buy another one.

All the electrics work so no need for rewiring. Well done Tom. Almost there :)

if you are fitting a sump guard then you may need an oil cooler as the oil temp is greatly affected by the sump guard and the restricted air flow.

Cheers for letting me know boo :)

I wont be fitting that till iv sorted an oil cooler then...

Popped up to the mini this morning with a charged battery and had a go at firing it up, checked i had fuel coming to the carb, which i did, i double checked the tappets had the correct clearance, the the connected up the dizzy and HT leads and had a go at firing it up, i was getting good oil pressure, but it wasnt firing when i was slowly turning the dizzy, it seemed like it wanted to fire a few times, but it wouldnt start up and go, i only had a quick play this morning, but if i get the change ill have another go this evening. an then ill get a timing gun on it. and set up the carbs.

Also i think i have decided i will be sticking with the groupe 5 euro arches instead of the miglias now, but im not 100%.

I might have a go at making a mould for them and making some CF group5 euro arches :dontgetit:

Then ill have a little bit of adjustment of the hi-lows and i should be ready to go :withstupid:

Ebay lol, well it was just a cheap one and as it had loads of tunes i though why not lol, i was initually only going to get the aarrrouuugggaaa air horn.

Well my daily drive is off the road atm (clutch has gone) so ill have to try and get a lift for mother to the local motor shop to get a choke cable, a couple of spade connectors, some small black headed screws and a small bit of pipe.

Then ill get them fitted and fire the engine up again :errr:

Then i have to adjust the clutch and i can get it down to be tuned and then ill start driving it.
