LOL my girlfriend and exams are taking up most of my time atm, but i should have alot of free time to get it done soon.

I ordered a honening toold the other day, so ill give the blocka quick hone, then fit the piston rings and start putting the block back together :shades:.

Iv also decided that im not going to be using my big leather seats, but im going to get my kevlar set re-covered and ill use that along side my fiberglass bucket.

I also got a pair of 4 point harnesses the other day, so they will go well with the buckets.

Im looking for somewhere to re-furbish my fiesta caliper atm, and then ill send them off and get re-furbished.

Hopefully ill get some free time this weekend to get some of the engine put back together.

Cheers for the avice boo.

Well today i got a bit of time to work on the 1380 engine. I recived my honeing tool through the post the other day, so i charged the drill up and honed the block out. I then removed the piston rings from my pistons and fitted my new pistons rings.

I then oiled up the rings. I then fitted the crank, thrust wachers, center main cap and the outer two main caps.

I then got out my piston ring compressor, compressed the rings and fitted the pistons, i then torqued them conrod bolts up.

I then oiled up the cam followers and fitted them, i also fitted the cam in place.

Thats all i got round to doing today, although the engine isnt finished yet, but im still pleased that im finally getting some progress with building the 1380 up.

Well i got a little bit more time down the garage today, not much though.

But whilst i was down there i stripped the diffs off 3 of my gearbox and one of them looks a bit different, i made a thread asking if anyone knows what it is, but this is what it looks like, as you can see it has xxxxx around the midle shaft.

Posted Image

Also whilst i was down there i fitted my oil pump, fitted the cam retaining cap, fitted the duplex timing chain an got the timing of the cam sorted.

Hopefull i will find out if the diff is worth using of just to use the other standar diffs i have, as if i use this type i will have to strip it back and change the output shafts as these arent pot joint type they are different. Then depending on what diff i use i will hopefully get that back in the gearbox tomorrow and get the gearbox fitted back on the block.

I popped down the garage for about an hour today and cleaned up the head ill be using. I de-coked it all and opened out the inlet ports.

Posted Image

I went to lap the valves in, so i got my spring compressor, but i couldnt fin my dsucking tool thingy and lapping paste, so i didnt bother taking the valves out yet, ill orer a new sucky tool and some cutting paste and ill do that when they arrive.

I also cleaned up my diff, but i went to fit the selector shaft ball bearing and spring and i cant find the ball bearing, so i couldnt fit that. But now im home and have though about it i could have removed it from one of my spare boxs.

Posted Image

But ill either do that tomoorow and then ill get the box re-fitted.

Posted Image

It acctually turned out alot better that i thought it would, but i dont know how long it woul last if the seat was being used, but the seat will only be in there for looks and not to be say on as i have harnesses...

Cheers, Yea im pleased with how the seat turned out.

Also a bit of an update with the dashboard that i was making, this was just so i could practice some fiberglassing, and i wont acctually be using the dash.

Anyways ill continue from where i was, I continue to sand the dashboard back, i then filled the whole dashboard and sanded back to get smooth.

Posted Image

I then primed the dash, to see if there was anymore imperfections and sande it back the final time, using finer and finer grade paper.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I then primered again for the final time.

Posted Image

Then i sprayed the dash, its Red as thats the only paint i had lying around that i didnt mind wasting.
