Well i popped down that garage earlier and got the diff out. It works out as a 3.647 final drive. I also took started striping the yoke type driveshafts off. ill pop some pics up this evening. I also found that the diff casing has broken by the rod change hit, where one of the rods blots onto the diff... will i be able to take the casing off my A+ gearbox? by the way i think this hasing is an A series casing not A+ i dont know if there is a difference in the diff casing though...

Well done Tom, I've just read this from start to finish,
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that you really have done such a good job on your Mini, you are an inspiration to me, to get up & get out & do mine.

Thanks for the comment it really is nice to hear people say things like that.

I didnt manage to do anything today, iv just got to save some cash now and order the bits then ill get it put back together.

Im going to persuade my mate to let me clean all the bits in his chemical cleaner where he works, but if i cant do that whats the best was to clean the engine internals?

Not really any updates on the engine re-build, but i say some "cosmic mini wheels�" on ebay the other day, but when i clicked on the link it was actually for two kn mercury's. So i put them in my watch list thinking nothing much about it then when i was checking out my ebay i saw they were ending in 10 mins, so i through well they are my favourite wheels so i put in a bid and won them for just £16, so now all iv got to do is find 4 more then ill have enough for my mini and the trailer.

Well i think i have sorted out a set of 4 KN mercury's with tom "minivanman"

But with progress on getting the mini back on the road thats not going to be happening for a while now as iv just been in Austria snowboarding and on my last run someone came flying down the mountain and smashed into the back of me so both him and me flew forward and both landed on my wrist which ended up with it being dislocated and two of the bones being broken, so now i have no use of my main hand until its fixed.

Well i got a mini van dropped off to me the other day, but i cant do any work on it till i get my wrist out of the cast, but when that happens ill start a project thread for it. by the way "minivanman" has inspired me to do this project.

Cheers yea ill probably be going removable front with this aswell, but it will be metal this time as iv already got a very good metal front end in the barn.
