So today i had a spear hour, so i got stripping lol not like that for u dirty minded people haha.
The head was just sitting on top so i took that off then took all the axillary's off, i then removed the water pump and spent bout 30mins trying to get the cam pully bolt out out with a breaker bar, but that wouldnt budge, so ill have to get something else on it has anyone got any tips?
I then removed the flywheel cover and started to take that off, but one of the three bolts just popped the the metal puller bracket

The plans for this are fit my phase 3 cam, fit a light weight flywhee, new clutch, duplex timing chain, new oil pump, new water pump, new big end bearing, and anything else i come accross that i fancy changing.

Engine before i started stripping it:

Then then went and brought a flywheel puller and valve compressor:

After looking at i i though hang on whats going on with the oil filer... anyone know what this is off and whay it would be on this engine?

Few bits removed:

Is this timing cover normal? i cant seem to find another one without a breather fitted...

Heres a pic of the Kevlar bucket:

Mk2 fiesta calipers and carriers:

Custom hoses for the fiesta calipers, made by mini13. Cheers they look amazing

finally i dont know if you can see from the pics but is this head leaded or unleaded? i might need to clean it up more... How can i tell if its leaded or unleaded?

Timing cover is probably a small bore type (which had the breather on the tappet chest).

I thing the timing cover might be one made specially for the duplex timing kit.... as its got nothin on the inside that has been ground out... but this might be how the 998 engine is.
Thanks for the advice on the oil filter bit.
I think that the bits have been mixed and matched for a 1275 gt lump as this is what the engine came out of.
Still cant get the flywheel off!!! GGGGRRRRRR

well i started out by nitromorsing (sp) a few things.
I started up by using it on the clutch/flywheel aluminum casing. It started red, then it went yellow, then bare metal.

I then did this to the timing cover.
Before.

After.

Thats all i did with the nitromors for now, but im going to do the rest of the clutch/flywheel aluminum cover and the head at some point.
I then pryed the duplex timing chain off, the small cog was on bloody stiff lol.

I also finished of stripping down the head.

But when i came to the last bolt on the head, one of the thermostat bolts, it only went and snapped on me

Pic of morespeed ph3 cam and swiftune followers.

Rocker cover that ill be using.

im planning on using the standard 1.3 rockers at the moment as that should work better with the cam...
Also i moved the mini into its new how

its one of the building at the top of out garden, so the mini is finally out of the elements. so iv got somewhere to do the engine change when iv finished building this engine, but im stuck now as i cant get the flywheel off
