Faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor

Best Answer kommander , 20 December 2015 - 11:05 AM
Ok guys and gals....the idle issue was solved by replacing the crank sensor.
Above 2000 rpm, it was not sending a signal!
New cts, crank and spark plugs! Car runs really good!

Swapped out two other ECUs
Guess l'll have to probe the wiring.
Any suggestions on the cts fault reappearing?
Wiring healthy, new sensor

Managed to install an inline filter between the fuel inlet line and throttle body.
The output pressure at priming and cranking is 16psi
I've read that the fuel pump regulated pressure is 1 bar = 14.5psi.
Is this pressure consistent with others who have also tested?
The fuel spray pattern is almost non existent compared to previous, when l pulsed the injector and powered the fuel pump directly!

The injector is pulsed by the MEMS so it's difficult to compare with powering it open.
CTS reading stuck at default - there are only a few possibilities a) wiring b) sensor c) MEMS d) battery voltage too low can cause odd issues

Starting has become a non issue.
Jus need to replace the cts and hope that solves the idling issue.
Thanks to FS and all members who chimed in.
I can now return the matches and petrol!

Glad you found it, let's hope she is all good once you have the CTS fitted.

Ok...CTS changed....poor idle...wont even go when I step on the accelerator...cuts off
Removed vac hose to ECU....no change in idle
So I'm hoping it's vacuum....but when I scan the car...the RPM jumps from 0 to idle speed
Forgot what the MAP read though
Could faulty crank sensor/wiring cause poor idle? Crank sensor doesn't show up as a fault code though
I know it prevents starting.
HELP!
I'll have to recheck the ECU connector since it was responsible for the starting problem
