Hi everyone.
I just wanted to offer help with my knowledge, experience and services.
My name is Andy. I worked at Z Cars for 5 years up until October 2014. Some of you will have dealt with me via phone calls, emails or in person. I was the workshop supervisor up until leaving.
It's a huge shame that Z Cars has closed. All the lads that worked there loved being part of the team and together had a vast amount of talent. The company could have been as big or bigger then other small car manufacturers out there.
I've since set up on my own as a specialist mechanic offering mechanical, electrical and fabrication services to track and race, classic and modified enthusiasts.
Check out my website www.spunkys.co.uk or follow me on Facebook https://www.facebook...onkeys/?fref=ts
With regards to sourcing replacement parts, most components are standard "off the shelf" parts. The problem is their has been a few different variations of parts used depending on the age of your kit and the spec etc.
As far as I know, the early kits used Ford sierra brakes and hubs at the rear, the later kits (most recent) used Ford Mondeo wheel bearings and hubs but Citreon Saxo brakes (on the road kit).
Rose joints are generally all imperial, NOT fine metric. For example the rear arm rose joints are 5/8 thread, 1/2 inch hole.
If you have any questions, email [email protected] or message me etc. I'll do my best to help.
Thanks,
Andy

The front brake pipes where made by a company called eXact. They can make up what you need. Should also know what a zcars front brake kit is as well.
You should have that long pipe from the pedal box, loops round the front bar on the front subframe. It has a large fitting that fixes each side near the N/S and O/S upper suspension arms. That then takes a banjo bolt (m10 x 1.0 IIRC) Then two short flexis go from there to the Willwood.
Willwood calipers are a standard 1/88 npt tread.
I think the fuel pump and sender unit is a VAG part. Find a part number and double check. With a little googling, you should be able to source the plug and pins.
Hope that helps.

I have a question, do you know the Ford part number for the circlip used on the rear hubs? I was told it was a Mondeo fitting and when tried to get one from the unhelpful local Ford dealer I was asked for a registration number of the vehicle, and was told without a reg they couldn't help - nice. I am hoping my driveshafts dont snap again but if they do I'd now be screwed trying to find a circlip (in my experience they break up when you try to take the CV apart to get the broken shaft out). Any info welcome.

Hi cptkirk,
No, sorry. I don't know the specific part number, but to be honest, it was a little hit and miss weather we had the correct size clip when I was at Z Cars.
It is a Mondeo CV. Your best option is to try the local motor factors for a Modeo part (a generic 1.8 Mk2, I'll try find out which model they where specifically)
They seemed to vary lots of the time. Some where too big and was a nightmare to get into the CV which then meant they'd expand too much once through and you'd usually smash them trying to get them out. Then you'd get some that where to small and wouldn't clip in and actually do anything. They also have different thicknesses which causes similar problems. You even get different CV manufacturers turning a different size groove in the end of the splines for the clip to sit in.
So I'm afraid it is a little hit and miss. Fortunately they shouldn't cost more then a few pence each :)
Sounds very typical of a main dealer! And I imagine drive shafts are a big weak spot in your car. You must have picked it up not long before I started. Well done with it, it looks really nicely put together.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info - I must have had a big one on mine as it smashed to bits when I remove the CV, fortunately I found all the bits in the grease before putting it back together....

Think of all the spare parts we could have pooled together, would have set us up for years :) Now we just need to find out who bought them and what for
Too bad the only valuable things in there were the shed, the cnc bender and the lathe. They probably were too big/heavy to move before the receivers got their hands on the company...
Someone got a full Hyabusa Zcars kit front and rear for £550! See here: http://www.i-bidder....ca-a55c009f2dd9
