My sisters Citroen C2 1.4HDI started to play up..down on power and misfiring (do diesels misfire? I dont know)
Eventually leading to being pretty much undriveable.

I got the fault codes which pointed me towards injectors. P0201 code.
I unplugged injectors..cleaned the connectors and thought i plugged back in.
BUT i started the car and it was even worse...i removed airbox to get to injectors again and found one unplugged(DOH)
Plugged back in..tried to start car and it just turns over.
Its in ECONOMY MODE which is a citroen thing i think for power saving.
I dont think this is stopping the car starting ..it started first time before even on 3 injectors...WHAT HAVE I DONE?

I ask here because its busy and has clever people :D

I assume you replaced the injector seals? :shy: I try and keep away from renault, citroen and diesel mondeo engines to be honest. >_<  :tumble:

Did the injectors go back in the same places? Some are coded to the ecu so changing them round may cause issues.

It would have been best to get them tested when they were out. If nothing else a test and proper clean would have helped the car in the longer term.

Check for air in the fuel pipes if uve had bits removed. Hand primer if fitted pump till its hard then try starting.

No i havent touched them...looks like too much hassle to get to injectors so was just going for the easy unplug..clean..plug back in

Managed to eff that up though.

I tend to stay away from anything modern :P

Check fuel filter if you can. Make sure its full of diesel. Prime the system and try starting it.

Did you mess with any of the fuel side of the system? If so the fuel system will need to be primed, as above. Did you erase the code, then scan again to check?

Didnt touch fuel side...might have disturbed something as its tight.

Cheers guys ill try priming it and i did erase the codes. When i scan now i get P1351P which is glow plug related i think but it doesnt use them unless its really cold as i understand

Glow plugs are used to keep emissions clean all the time. Not just for cold starting on modern diesels.

I believe they go into economy mode to save power when it think the battery is low, which is an absolute pain in the rear when trying to work on them! Try hooking up a battery charger to it to keep your voltage up whilst working on it. If when the car is running it sort of chuffs away and there's a horrible spray around the injector then the injector is probably blowing and a new seal is probably needed, the fact that you have a code though points to electrical fault and you may have to send the injectors off for testing, which can get pricey

Or change the glow plugs after checking the relay/controller is working and its associated fuse is ok.
It's a common problem. You'll have rough running (warm and cold) and it'll feel underpowered. Same/similar engine used by ford which has the same problems with glow plugs.

Thanks for the replies..gave it to a professional to look at and he changed one of the injectors...all problems sorted.
