So my first year of mini 7 racing is over & we had a great year, finishing inside the top 10 overall. end of last season we refreshed a mini se7en that was originally built in 1989 and has been raced in the championship ever since. the car has been great all year, but unfortunately she is on the heavy side.. 49kg over the minimum weight. - last years build thread

http://www.theminifo...-se7en-refresh/

So instead of chopping her a bout to try and save the weight, we have decided to start from fresh and have a brand new build for the 2016 season focusing on making the car lightweight. So far we have started to chop out the bits that are no longer needed & delivered the car to Owens fabrication in Wales. He is installing the cage, Airbox, Anti roll bar, Gearlinkage tower, pedal box, Column, Seat Frame, engine steadies, modifying the subframes etc etc.. hopefully we will be collecting the car in early December.

I'll be watching this - it will be interesting to see a racer go together.

Just a quick question how come you went with the bulk head fit pedals over the cockpit ones. Won't there be a issue with clearance or will you be sitting quite far back in the car ?

Just wanting to know cause I'm going to be getting some but wasn't sure these would allow enough room

That looks like a floor mounted pedal box not a bulkhead mounted one.

On OBP's website when ever the master cylinders are behind the pedals it says bulkhead fit. Cockpit fit the master cylinders are infront of the pedals and they also do top mounted ones

Thats my old car above mate with the same pedalbox, i sit quite far back in the car. It might be listrd as bulkhead fit but we use as floor mounted.

I know they are floor mounted I know you wouldn't actually attach them to the bulk head lol

I just wanted to know how much clearance there was between the toe board and the master cylinders. But as you sit quite far back in the car I take it it's not much of an issue.

Is there anything you would need to do to the floor in order to strengthen it or just a matter of using large washers to spread the load out ?
