Hi, I've bought a new bootlid (heritage taken from a full heritage shell) as my old one had Had it.

I'm in the process of building it up and notice the pressing is not the same.

My original panel is from an 1984 car, the new from a post 1988 shell. I know the boot seal is different but the boot catch mechanism is not the same.

Looking at minispares the same mech is used on all cars - any ideas??

Thanks Chris

Plenty of views but no comments :-)

I should add that I bought these 2nd hand and they were already primed when purchased - 1 option is that this is not a Genuine panel, but having nothing else to compare to I can't tell.

Has anyone purchased a genuine or pattern boot lid they can have a look at?

Thanks

The seal goes on the car on some lids, and on the boot on others.

I can't tell you when the changeover was though

ok so what is the problem?

does the latch not align with the handel?

if you are on about the lack to the two vertical fixings dont worry they dont do much i cant say that i actually bothered with them much.

thanks for your help,

If you look at the original bootlid there is a recess on the top lip (with two fixing holes) for the lock mechanism to sit in. The new bootlid doesn't have the recess or the holes - just seems odd if the lock mechanism is the same for all cars, why they would remove the recess etc.

Made me wonder if the bootlid is a genuine panel or not - but as I've got nothing else to compare it too.....

There is no reason to think it is not if it came of a heritage shell. Heritage could well have made some adjustments. Like I said the bolts do little.

That white boot lid looks to be of non-genuine origins. Also you can use the later boot seal that pushes on to the body with an earlier boot lid with the boot seal holes, the later seal also tends to leak less.
