Least there's a few options :) I'm just gonna use the micra clocks, daily drive is fixed now so work shall resume on Monday after I finish work, plan is to start reinforcing the back of the subframe then make my rear mount, got a idea that's a bit different to what everyone else has done but won't say too much just incase it doesn't work lol

Update time !
Well I've started reinforcing the back of my subframe

And started mocking up my rear mount idea which seems to be working to plan so far :)

Added more metal in to strengthen it up

The bracket that I'm using for my mount had to be chopped up abit in order for it to fit so had to beef it up once I'd chopped half of it away

Still needs abit more strength adding in so will finish it tomorrow

I'm afraid to say that mount won't last long at that angle. They are designed for compression ( need the weight sitting on them) not torsion.

I agree with L Jones there bud. I also used those mounts. Two compression mounted at the front and two sideways mounted at the rear. My sideways ones have lasted fine most likey because there are two, but I don't think I would want to hang the engine from them if I had a choice. Could be an idea to rethink that mount if I were you

I was afraid someone would say that :( oh well back to the drawing board unless I could find a different mount that is designed for torsion what you guys think ?

It's probably just easier to change the mount brackets...The engine mounts you ha e are the same as mine and most others. Their good mounts so it's best to stick to them. I've got two at the front 1 at the rear like pretty much everyone else but have it more so that the engine sits on the mount instead of pulls it down like yours. It's not a hard mount to do at the back really. Just takes a bit of thinking. Making sure it clears the driveshaft etc etc. You'll get there. No build ever goes 100% and if someone sais it does their lying!

Yeah I'm aware of how it's meant to be just the gap I had there was like perfect size for the mount to sit so just went with it not thinking that it was back to front, might do some testing one day and see just how much force the mounts can take :) plenty of room to swap the angles just fiddly

It is fiddly I must say. I'll try and grab a photo or two of how my back mount is if that would help you?

Ok so I know everyone told me to change the angle of my rear mount but instead I just modified the actual mount, the threaded parts were cut off each end and then a hole was drilled through the centre so a bolt can go right through it.

The engine now feels solid, once it's on the road if the rear mount falls to bits then fair enough I'll admit I should of changed it but I'd like to try this first and if it holds out then happy days :)

Started mocking up the bars that come back through under the engine no pics as nothing has been welded yet so will carry on with this again Monday

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news but now isn't the mount just going to be a giant rubber washer essentially and the engine simply bolted in meaning the vibrations may make it snap?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I'd agree with this, essentially you're hanging the engine off a single bolt with a bit of rubber in between

That's what I thought L Jonez

Right mate this is how I've done mine. The landy mounts are actually threaded into the gearbox in existing holes used by the original engine mount and the brace was a micra one cut up

20140322_144738.jpg

They arnt the best by any means and they are side loading the mount like we said earlier but my logic was there's two instead of one and they have been solid all this year with no issues and my cars a daily (when it works)

I personally don't think it will snap I don't want to get into an argument over this at the end of the day it's my choice so if it brakes then I've only got myself to blame I'm not ignoring how you guys have done it just trying something different

Ok man just please use an ht bolt, loctite and some spring washers :)

Are you going to get the flywheel lightened at all? I defo reccommed it as it seems to really improve the drivability and Rev pickup in the lower gears
