I've stopped sulking now after not making the IMM with the GT, so had an hour in the garage. Started fitting the headlining, going to leave that to stretch for a few days
Fitted the gear change thingy me bob, and put my number 3 pool ball gear knob on, it is my 3rd mini
And started putting the loom back in, pain in the arse that was
We'll get the loom tidied up and clipped up next time, need to do that before we drop the engine in. The kids are back in school next week so there will be more garage time for Jimmy and R Kid

Had a few hours on the GT yesterday. I rubbed down the sunroof surround to bare metal because the paint was bubbling up all over, gave it a prime then a few thin coats of black, just in time for it to start raining
Quite pleased how it came out
Then I got the rear cards from the loft and gave them a bit of a scrub, a lovely shade of poo
I also put the rear carpet in, bit miffed I had to cut the holes for the seatbelt bolts and seat brackets, but at least I never had to cut the carpet round the ashtray, I took that out after I knelt on it one too many times welding the boot floor in
Still no engine in, maybe next time

Back on it today, didn't start well when it took a couple of hours just to put the exhaust brackets on the rear subframe. 2 bloody hours for 4 bolts!!!
Anyway, with that done we got the engine crane out
Bit of a faff getting the engine mounts to line up with the holes on the subframe but it's in
Then had to see if the hif44 carb I bought was going to fit
Not a bad afternoons work, still plenty to be getting on with though

Fitted the carb and exhaust manifolds today, the exhaust flanges were slightly thinner than the inlet so had to pack em out a bit with half washers, got there in the end
Then put the car on stands and got the exhaust on, thanks to Lord Oversill for throwing it in with the carb
Had a bit of a hiccup fitting it because I ordered 1 3/4 clamps because the pipes were that size, didn't know I actually needed the size up to clamp it up, everyday is a school day I guess
Next up plumbing the rad and heater in, if I can work out how it all goes

I thought seeing as I might need to put petrol in this thing soon I'd better sort the tank out
I rubbed the side you can see down to bare metal , the side you can't a rub down to give it a key then etch, then primer then a few coats of black
I might give it a couple more coats tomorrow if I get chance, the sender unit needs replacing so wasn't bothered about getting paint on it
