Getting a few hours in on my day off, not as much as I'd like, but the kids will always come first.
It needs to be done by the time I'm 50, my cousin in Ireland has bet me a steak dinner I won't finish it

Sometimes, the black paint on magnum panels can be washed off with thinners.
It does sand off easily though. Perhaps not so much applicable at home, but i use my air palm sander with an 80grit disc to remove the paint which works quickly
Thanks Ben, I'll give it a go

This morning I thought we'd better try the doors after replacing the doorsteps a while ago. Happy to say nothing has gone out of shape after cutting big chunks of metal out, the bracing did its job.
We then welded the jacking points in place, a fair bit of fettling was needed but we got there in the end, then gave the inner sills a few coats of paint, I'll weld the outer sills on next time, then it'll be the dreaded rear arches

After taking advice from Ben O about removing the crappy black paint off my magnum outer sills we gave it a go. So out with the thinners ( still stoned haha ) and indeed it does wipe off, then a quick coat of etch primer and a couple more coats of primer and it looks like this
I'll do the other one over the weekend and maybe get them welded on Monday

I thought I would ask the experts on here. Is this wing worth saving? Thinking of replacing the whole inner wing but just seen the price haha
I stripped the other outer sill off today, and filled the now redundant slinging bracket holes with new metal and gave both a few coats of paint ready for welding on. Pleased because I didn't have much time really
I fear a big minispares bill is coming my way

Had a few hours on the GT, got the outer sills welded on, quite pleased with todays progressRolled it over to do a few spot welds the other way up because I drilled right through with the spot weld drillI'll have to go back and re do a couple of welds, then have a major grinding session when my neighbours are back in work

You're making some good progress on the GT. It's good to see the shell looking more solid.

I know i have said it elsewhere but the front half of the l/h inner wing is shot. As i mentioned you can get a genuine / heritage replacement section from behind the shock mounts going fwd.

Me and r kid have made an executive decision and have decided to do the whole inner wing, think it will be better in the long run

Far shout as it does cut down on the amount work needed believe it or not.
