Just had another go at welding but this time with gas. Welds weren't much better but at least I wasn't choking on the fumes. Gonna try a roll of 0.6 wire tomorrow on the advice of my mate who used to teach welding.

Luckily I've not been near the GT yet

I think it's imminent! Hopefully the GT will be upside down in a few days, no welding on his back for Jimmy, oh no :-)

You did it right and replaced the whole floor. Dave came round today and his welds looked a lot better than mine and he's not welded for 20:years .I'm sure I'll be an expert by the time it's finished

I guess once you can weld you never forget. My floor needed replacing lol. You will be fine once you get started

Took him a while to set the welder up, he's not welded for years and he's used to bigger machines.

What's best to replace first, doorstep or sills?

Door step as you can line it up to the existing sill and get it the right height and place also means when you do the sill you can weld it to the door step first and then worry about the rest of it

Had a few hours in the garage today, weldings getting better, but ran out of gas. I think I might be having a go on the car soon.

Stripped some more bits off it, but found I need a drivers front floor pan because of a dodgy MOT repair, and the top of drivers flitch is see through

I'll take some pics later
