Yeah. Reversed the polarity and went for it. When I upped the power and wire speed it seemed a bit better. Just need to practise.

We are gonna get our mate round to show us the ropes, he used to teach it for a living so should see us right

Set power then mess with wire speed till you get constant sound.

My first welds were horrible and still have a bad time sometimes as you have seen lol.

Easy enough to pick up though and you have already done the hard part by starting to learn

Found this with the bits the previous owner of the GT gave me. An aussie timing cover with mowog in the shape of oz stamped into it. Looks like it has never been fitted2016-03-06%2011.00.28_zps1l8uuasm.jpg2016-03-06%2011.02.16_zps5kkt0izo.jpg

The old fella, Norman, lived in oz for years, but came home when his mum got sick. Now he could tell a tale or two about racing minis

It is so cool to meet proper petrolheads from back in the day. Their racing stories make one yearn to be there during those days.

I think I might be tempted to put that timing cover on my wall rather than on the car where it will never get seem.

It's different to the one on my engine anyway, it may be useful to someone doing an aussie mini or moke though, cant be many of these left

If someone has an aussie clubby or moke they can have it. No good for the GT

Well what can I say. R kid came round today and told me to stop feckin about and get some work done!

Fair enough, got some welding practice in and more stripping done. Day off next week will be getting the subframes off prior to flipping the GT over to sort sills and floors out.

Need to get some more welding practice in before letting loose on the GT though
