Hello fellow enthusiasts. Thought i might open a project thread of the progress of the rebuild of my 1981 mini van 95L.

I have used the site for many years when tending to my previous minis but always wanted a van!

I will post a couple of pics up of how it sits now, i bought it a couple of years ago now and after a couple of months stripping it has sat in the garage until now. I am hoping keeping this project diary as such will keep me focussed on getting it finished.

Looks like a really good project wouldn't mind a van again myself one day but have enough on the go at the minute lol will be keeping an eye on this one :)

If you can download the imgur App (or any other free image hosting app) then you can use that to store your photos. From there you will be able to use the core img tags to embed your photo into your posts here.

 

If that sounds like nonsense there is a 'how to' guide in the TMF faq section that has a step-by-step guide

So the mini van was bought some years ago and has sat in a garage for years while work, wife and kids got in the way!

Moved in 2020 and decided that while I had to transport the mini anyway I might as well look to give it to someone skilled in body work. I had bought the car blind on eBay late one Friday night. The description stated “solid body work” so I went for it.

Step in Lee Scott classics in the depths of Essex. He took it on and uncovered some hidden gems like the three floors welded over each other along with the double sills and a lot of rot and holes! His guys got to work and I have to say the quality of their work is fantastic. Lee works off measurements and reckons it has also had a significant nudge as you can see in the roof gutter line.

Work completed
Complete new front end including A-panels
Reworked doors
New scuttle
New bonnet
New front floors
New sills
Repairs to rear quarters, heel board, bulk head
New wheel arches
Realignment of roof and A-post
Probably more I’ve forgotten
