It was registered with the DVLA as a Morris Mini 1000 in March 1969 so I'm not sure what log book has Cooper S on it.

Wow glad I kept up the questions!how have they got a v5 that matches the chassis number stating its a Morris Cooper S!?id this fraudulent surely?
It was quite easy in past years (especially pre-computerisation) to modify a standard Mini to Cooper or S spec and then write to the DVLA or its predecessor (or your local vehicle registration office) to ask for the vehicle description to be changed on the log book at the same time as you asked for a change of engine number, etc, most times the log book came back with your request granted..........but the Mini or S was not a valuable classic car at the time.

The car chassis number complete matches the v5 log book, and the v5 states it is a Morris cooper S,is it possible to fake this?
Are you sure you are looking at a current V5C? Or is it an overseas logbook of some type? Do you have a picture of it? I understand that the chassis number will match but the following is what DVLA have about it which clearly states Mini 1000 not Cooper S:
NDL 462G
Make MORRIS
Model MINI 1000
Colour BLUE/WHITE
Year 1969
Engine Size 1275cc
Yes, chances are the chassis number has been cut from the original car then welded into that one ?
James
There is no need to cut anything when the chassis plate is attached by two self tapping screws, however it is not an S chassis number. I have checked with the FE Number guru and he says the FE Number and chassis number match in terms of date.

Only later Mini's from the 1980's onwards had any chassis number actually stamped in the metalwork of the bonnet drip rail channel......as said above a 1969 car only has a chassis plate attached with screws!

Are you aware that you cant buy that car in italy? you have to register the V5 change in the uk and ask for export plates.
