The downside to having quite a lot of work on and only one spray booth has meant that the Golf wasn't painted when planned but it is now being painted tomorrow morning.

Here it is all masked up ready to go.

Thanks Rich.

I'm looking forward to seeing it too. This is when all the hard work pays off.

It will be out of the booth Monday and ill fit the engine whilst Colin paints the doors and Bonnet.

I have also repaired the arch trims so ill paint them up too and fit them before you have it back.

I am ready to refit the engine but need to fit a new clutch first. We have been supplied the wrong one so another is being delivered tomorrow.

And the next restoration is here.

It came out great. Just need to flat and machine polish the whole thing and then it will be ready for you to come and inspect.

Perhaps bring the door seals when it's finished so that we can close them ready for transportation back to you.

Cheers

Ben

Started to build the back end up but had to stop as the headlining needs to go in and it's a 2 man job and the 2nd man was busy

Anyway, i dropped the engine back in, plumbed it all up and fitted back up all of the suspension/hubs etc

It all runs and drives now so we are getting very close now.

Hi Rich.

Sorted out the clutch no problem. I replaced the crank seal too and all seems well.

The panels came out well and will be bolted back on in the morning. Colin is going to flat the paintwork down and start polishing it whilst i fit the doors back up.

That will just leave the headlining and rear interior to do

Ill need to put it on the ramp at some point to see what i can do with the gear selector as it seems stodgy but was when it came in so is probably worn linkages.

Ben.

Ok Ben no prob, how's the golf going, did you manange to put headlining in?

Thwe headlining was heavily creased where it had been folded into the box so we have hung it in the car by the rods, tensioned it to the edges and left it there over the weekend so that the creases can drop out.

Once it's glued, then the trims can go in and we will be about there with it.

As you can see, the doors are on and the bonnet is ready to go on too.

Cheers

Ben
