Whats happening to this beauty
First it will be stripped and sandblasted and then a new front end, complete new floor and then lots of repairs to the quarter panels, tailboard, doors, bulkhead and load bay floor.
Then paint and back to a rolling shell for the customer to build back up

Today, I have partially stripped the Cooper so that I can inspect it properly
I stripped the boot out
And after depressurising the suspension, I removed the rear subframe
And then stripped the the trim and brightwork from the front
And the drivers door
So bodywork wise, I have been instructed to tidy up and repaint inside the boot
I will be fitting rear valance closing panels as they are currently missing
I shall be repairing the doors and repainting those and then moving to the front, I am doing some tidying up of the outer panels, repairs to the flitches and then a repaint of the front end
Other than that, I will be fitting door mirrors, replacing some seals, removing the rear seat belts, playing about with the panel gaps and a few other bits and bobs.
Cheers
Ben

Yep. you are right Neil.
The boot floor has had repair sections fitted at some stage.
Most of the mess in the boot is from it being re-painted with no prep so the paint is just peeling off.
Both flitches have filler in them. I'm just about to have a poke and see but they look fine from the inside. I think filler has been added to tidy things up after some repair sections have been added as there is evidence of distortion inside.
Ill report back soon!

Well hopefully its cosmetic Ben but no closeouts on the rear valance???

but no closeouts on the rear valance???
They were left unfitted by a previous owner as he thought it would eliminate a muck trap...

As I thought so far.
Lots of filler. Approx 15mm thick
Sound steel beneath
And there we are, a section of flitch has been fitted but there is distortion from the welded joint.
I shall tidy up the welds and straighten it all out.

Nice little Cooper S Ben,
The owner has picked the right person to change it from a nice Mini to a beautiful classic, it never ceases to amaze me the bodges that are carried out, when doing the job correctly probably wouldn't have cost much more.

Thanks John

Wow Ben, you've got on with it really quickly. Quite scary seeing my car in bits that but so pleased you are sorting / tidying up the bits that were detracting from the overall quality of the car. Thanks for the posts, my heart-rate is now just returning to normal

JXC, it was watching your car being worked on at Mill Road that made me book mine in. I'm not too far away from you in Haywards Heath, so I thought if you can take yours to the IOW for Ben to work on, I should do the same. Very happy to have the car with Ben as I am sure it will be great when it's done.
