Hi guys

I was replacing the radiator

I have loosen the two bolts at the bottom, (bolt 14, see attached picture)

https://scontent-sjc...d5b&oe=56A940E7

after loosen them and take them off, I realized I don't need to. just I needed to lose the bolt 22.

However, I could not tighten them again, tried to do it around 1 hour!! just keep spinning! weird..

tried to make a different level and moved the bracket? many times to tighten the bolts but didn't work..

any experience of this please let me know..

Cheers

then it sounds like either you have stripped the threads out of the weld nut on the bracket or the bolt or you have not made contact with said weld bolt.

Sometimes they can be painfull to get back in. If you can remove them, perhaps one at a time, grind or file a bit of a taper on the threaded end and then check that the threads are still OK with a nut (5/16" UNF). Then I generally use a socket when fitting them up, however you'll find most sockets are too deep so you won't be able to get any pressure on the bolt head, so slip a nut inside the socket first. You'll probably have to twist the radiator a bit each way too, to help get the holes lined up enough to get the bolts started.

If the bolts just go in flush right away, then either the welded nuts have stripped or broken off.

Mine is a follow up question.

When you were trying to get bolt 14 started in the weld nut, did the bolt go in "full depth" and spin or was the bolt head well proud of the bracket?  If it was sticking way out, did you try muscling the engine and radiator around a bit?  Was the top radiator bracket loose?  If 90% of the other parts were tight and under load it could be that the weld nut and bolt are simply not in line anymore.
