I managed to fit the other headlamp and over riders on front along with backing plate

Then I cleaned up the recliners, still need to fit side plates on the passenger seat but ran out of glue for the vinyl have ordered some to finish off, my seats were missing the side plates so I have made some from zintec plate.

As I had nothing else to do I vacuumed the carpet to remove all the sound deadening material off it, looks ok now

Thanks, it isn’t difficult to get a good gap, just takes a little longer than throwing them on. Main thing that helped was keeping the doors on the car while doing major panel replacements, the door is a good guide.

Been. Bit busy lately with other problems, but finally got my engine assembled valves lapped etc and ready to install, trial fitted my alloy rocker cover and hopefully will install next weekend,  I do have correct oil filter housing to install but will do once in the car,

Nothing to special, standard d top 998 cooper engine, ported big valve 12g295 head, standard 630 cam, will be fitted with twin h4 carbs, basically following the downton touring specification with a free flow manifold and rc40 exhaust.  Has a close ratio 4 synchro box with 3.765 diff.

I made  my plugs leads up tonight am pleased with them as the lead doesn’t look brand new.

Spent today fitting the engine, still a way to go but it’s looking better,

Also had to dismantle and free up my hydrolastic pump as not been used in a while, the valve that change pressure to vacuum was seized, luckily was a pretty easy repair.

So hopefully get it pumped up soon

Well doesn’t look much different, but have spent quite a lot of time sorting out the bits and pieces under the bonnet, managed to fill it with oil and spin over until oil pressure is registered on gauge, connected the fuel pipes, hopefully get exhaust on next week and get it running,

Have the healey type filters to fit but will wait until the carbs are balanced.
Want an sa12 coil to be more period correct.

Not much of an update to look at, but have added the sound deadening to bulkhead and actually started the car, set up the carbs using a colortune which having never used one before found it pretty good, I had to rotate my distributor drive a little as must have been out of alignment but all ran fine and sounds pretty good, just need to fit my air filters now to finish off the underbonnet then bleed the brakes and clutch. Hopefully if all goes to plan will be back on the road this spring,

Finally feel like it’s coming to the end.

Well I got the brakes and clutch bled and double checked the mixture and timing, then fitted the air filters, not the best for flow but period correct, also drove it out of the garage for the first time in 22 years, felt good and gives me focus to finish it.

The air filters were awkward to fit due to the access to the bolts

And a quick view before I fit the bonnet, just want to get an sa12 coil now to finish it off, but no rush

Another update I was looking forward to, finally pumped up the suspension, luckily I have a pump to make life easier, used all new fluid so hopefully ok, had a little leak on one valve, so replaced that and all appears ok, will leave it to settle and adjust as required, but finally feels like it’s getting finished, bonnet next I think, then a good clean a a bit of flatting and polishing on a few areas of the paint, will not be perfect but I think I have achieved what I wanted from the car

Tracking needs setting now ride height is correct but shouldn’t take long to get set up
