I am getting somewhere but slowly, filling is one job where a lot of work doesn't make anything look different
I have almost finished main body filling now and will remove a door and start on one of those this weekend.
A couple of pics for update
Then with aid of vat free voucher I bought this
At least I have something to fill in the time whilst waiting for filler to go off prior to sanding, seems to work ok so far

I bought the same blaster, hard work seeing what your doing, but the results are worth it. Nice job on the Cooper.

I wouldn't worry about the visibility in one of those. It's just as bad in the expensive ones. My work one likes to give you a static shock on the nose or nipple every now and then too! That's the only reason I use it really...

Then yesterday managed to get a couple of coats of high build on, so now the flatting can begin

What at fantastic build thread mate. I was bored at work until I found this. Just read through the whole lot, I need to do something very similar to my 1275GT project.
Kind regards
Jonny

Didn't realise how long it was since I posted an update, not much different though just been flatting and using dolphin glaze to get it ready for top coat. Not too far away now so Hoping to see some colour going on soon. Need to build my plastic tent though first.

It's getting there but still more work required
Gave it a few coats of 2k high build and been flatting with guide coat only a few areas left now that require a little work

Used upol raptor tinted to island blue, was impressed with it as compared to stonechip it cuts out one painting job, also being solid colour I am hoping it won't chip easlily.
Came out a little more textured than I hoped, but couldn't get it any smoother with my Shultz gun and should be a good hard wearing finish, I am not building it to show so will be fine.
Hopefully get it off the spit next week now

I know it's not quite what you were after, but I rather fancy that finish. Nicely done.

Just been down to check how it's drying and am pleased with the result, it gives me a good hard wearing underside that should need little maintenance so would recommend the product,

Looks good Daz! I have never tried Raptor myself certainly looks hard wearing and
saves some time and materials,
Please don't take this as a criticism of your work! it may have been worth putting
a strip masking tape on the heel board and at the rear subframe mounts to stop
to much buildup of stone chip, can be quite tight in there the refitting subframe.
