Not really an update but. Have purchased a replica hrg rocker cover for when it's finished and am very pleased with the quality and a hell of a lot cheaper than a rough original one, also got my inner wings ready for when I continue with the front just these need modifying to early spec.

Managed to get a little more done,

Welded in the a panel after checking alignment, still got to finish the upper one, but is held ok for now

I am pretty please with door alignment just the upper frame needs a little tweaking to get right but will do that when I can fit doors properly

The hinges just dropped straight in the holes so impressed with panel shape

Then I removed the old inner wing but it took a lot longer than I thought it would, the reinforcing plates are well and truly shot so will get a template done before I remove the remnants from the crossmember end, but other than that not much else requires repair.
The inner a post stiffener I have a new one but will be fitting last so I can get spotweld arms in to weld outer a panel to the inner wing.

Then I just wanted to trial fit the new inner wing to check alignment with floor and toeboard and can report its perfect so at least I repaired that area correctly

So next job is to modify it to early spec and repair and rust proof any areas before fitting it for the final time.

Am starting to enjoy it coming together now

Daz are you trying to tell me you haven't finished this yet. Sigh

I joke looking good mate. It's definitely so much nicer and easier to replace the whole inner wing and at least you know it's all solid and won't have to be repaired again soon

Done a little more today

Made a replacement crossmember end reinforcing plate

Then I removed incorrect one from inner wing and cut out the later windscreen wiper indent and made a patch to correct shape

All welded but still need to grind back

e38683f6e0198ffb854945ad73dc139b.jpg

Then I spent a little time removing any rust from end of cross member and cleaning everything up, I now need new brackets for the ends so will order Monday, not got any pics of this stage though.

Thanks, no the inner a panel is not fitted yet but I am going to spot weld them to inner wing before I fit it, was just trial fitting for now, the outer a panels are very good and using door to align them has worked out quite easy.
