It may be worth cutting a few small sections from it to enable you to position the screen in the aperture to then enable you to check the gap is correct between the glass and the aperture, I believe it should be around 1/4" to 3/8" gap to allow the window seal to fit nicely.
Worth a check, just to make sure what the problem is being caused by?

Its normal the rubber appears bigger than the hole, you need to ensure its pushed right in the corners.
Always fitted minispares ones with no issues whatsoever.
If youve had scuttle work, has it been welded wrong?

yes mate it buckles out in corners and it's the original glass the one I took out I am pritty sure my original rubbers was small in thickness cheers TomWhen fitting the rubber to the aperture, I find it's important to make sure you don't stretch the rubber as you fit it, and the same goes for the rubber type insert . I think if the rubber is to long it would buckle out in the corners (on the inside when fitted to the aperture , did you notice it do that when you tried to fit it?

I believe what is in order is to make some measurements of the repaired opening and compare those with measurements for a Mini which has no scuttle repairs.
