I have wondered about using an ecoboost for ages! What are the likely hood they would fit in a std roundnose though? I bet the amount of work needed wouldn't be viable for someone like me that will be outsourcing most of the work :\. Great build anyway though!

Hi All Thought I Would Share My Ecoboost Project Should Be Running In The Next Few Weeks

What's the benefit of having the air filter all the way back there?
Could it have not gone a bit closer to the front?

There's probably a really obvious reason which I haven't thought of anyway

theres multiple reasons behind the air filter being over there 1is it can really fit anywhere else, it has various vacuum take offs in the intake pipe so I'm retaining the oem vacuum pipes and shape really. i was going to have it near the grille at the front but there just wasn't enough space. thanks im looking forward to properly driving it now

Hi,
I'm glad to see an Ecoboost in progress, but a little gutted someone beat me to it!
Can I ask a few questions on the details of the build, PM me if you want but this could help me save a few £s and many hours of headbanging.
Did you use the original subframe or use an aftermarket item?
Also, now you have the engine in situ, do you plan to use an extended front or has it been fitted within the confines of the standard front? I am building mine around the standard length front and use of the original subframe, however the idea of making life easier Ive been looking at the Allspeed Rover frame.
Good luck with the job, hope to see it soon!

Seriously impressive, and possibly the best way to go for near ultimate power in a Mini. In principle it just feels right. The Ecoboost engine is tiny, but unfortunately the bits around it, including the gearbox, seem to be enormous when they are put in the nose of a Mini. But there is great performance potential, and, if you are able to change the final drive ratio to be optimum for Mini wheels, potentially excellent fuel consumption too.
Have you thought about developing it fully and making a kit of parts for the conversion, or getting someone to do it for you? I think you would attract quite a few customers.

o after a trip to sc we found that it had no vvt or boost, after a bit of wiring to sort that we got on with the mapping to find the fuel pump is not manly enough so that kinda stopped play...
but it has a very good map on it and it drives extremely well with a hell of a lot of torque low down.... should be 140 ish plus
here the video link for a quck blast down the road

How's this going Charlie? Are you running it regularly on the road?
