I like the welds on those brackets. The neatest row of spot welds I've ever seen

Sorted my rear camber brackets.

I've had KAD brackets previously and although the fit is excellent a couple of things about them bother me.

First is how you lose your settings every time you remove the bracket and secondly the combined thickness of the bracket and the adjuster plate means you can't get the standard washer, nut and spring washer arrangement on the end of the radius arm shaft. You have to use a serrated nut instead and I've had these come loose in the past.

This time I'm going old school - standard brackets with the hole filed out to the correct toe/camber setting.

I've got a pair of genuine Heritage brackets that I've carefully ground the existing end plate off and I've had a pair of 3mm thick washers laser cut to the right size. Once I get everything setup properly I can mark the position of the washers and spot weld them in place.

Ive been tempted to put a tack weld on my KAD brackets for the same reason. Do you think there will be enough 'grip' on the washer to get the alignment done?

Yeah, should be fine.

My subframes came back from the sand blaster last week so I quickly gave them 3 sprayed coats of POR15 paint.

After letting it harden for a week I've then gone to town with the Dinitrol. Cavity wax in all the box sections and crevices followed by a thorough coating of underbody wax.

Not a lot to update yet as I'm waiting on a big delivery from Minispares.

I did manage to get all the RetroSport subframe trunnions fitted today though. The trunnion pins are a work of art that were made in stainless for me by a local engineering firm a while back and were originally fitted to my pick-up.

I've also fitted my bump and droop stops. These are poly versions that I bought from some guy in Japan. There's a big hole through them that's supposed to make them softer. Time will tell whether it was worth the cost + postage + import tax + VAT + admin fee that made them very expensive!

As you can see my droop stops are bump stops too. This it due to the position of the top arm being raised up.

The "packing washer" above the upper bump stop is a custom made 10mm thick item I had laser cut as I won't be running things as low as I did when this subframe was fitted to the pick-up

Only just stumbled across this. Loving the Brown, it's one of the best Clubby colours in my opinion.

Looking forward to following this.

Did a trial fit today with my cut down Hi-lo's.  Everything went together OK and it looks like it should work.

That second pic really shows how effective moving the top arm pivot point has been - really looking forward to seeing this on the car now!

Built up both the radius arms today using a pair of Retrosport billet alloy backplates.

Pretty much everything's new except the arms themselves which were NOS on the pick-up about 18 months ago and the Minifins that I got at a show last year and had vapour blasted to clean them up.
