Where do i start? Last year i bought a k series mini with a 1.4 16v metro engine mounted in a metro front subbie. Posted Image But after alot of thought i decided i really didn't want 13" wheels again :w00t: So made the decision that i'd remove the running gear and start afresh :- A few months before i'd also purchased this as it was cheap for £100 Posted Image Came with boot, doors and bonnet :)
So its just been sat now for a few months while i decided what to do and bought various parts.I've purchesed some new slighty deeper outer rims for these and also in the process of mirror polishing the centres Posted Image Also got a rear beam with coilovers for the rear, Right hand tank And a nice set of refubished 7.5" brakes Although i am tempted to change these for the feista setup due to the larger pad size. Whats peoples views on this? This is hows its sat at the moment Posted ImageGonna bolt the mini front subframe on at the weekend and start trimming the parts off that aren't needed ^_^ Tried the spectrums on the the frame withe the brakes and the stick out from the body less than an inch which i'm happy about. Gonna run the car without arches ;) (sorry officer) Going to make it as light as possible while still retaining some style.Thats now a 1.8 elise block with the metro box.

If you start tuning these engines the VVC mechanism becomes a restriction - all the big tuned K series ditch the VVC mechanism, although still use a VVC head because they have the bigger valves etc as standard. As with the vtec mechanism, its only their to give economy at low revs and power at high revs. If you're building an engine for power you dont need economy, so that half of the mechanism becomes redundant.

yeah i go on the 16vminiclub. Can anyone see any problems with fitting a smooth upper bulkhead the part that would be behind the carbs? i can guess the hinges would be a problem but i've solved that problem.

Its a style thing ;D Have you ever seen these engine bays where you wonder how the acually run as you cant see wiring, plumbing and other gubbins? They look so cleen and tidy. And that is the look im going for.

Fair enough routing wires etc, but welding on a smooth upper bulkhead panel seems like a total waiste of time. It would be a nice finisheing touch to a de-seamed, de locked-smoothed boot show car. But, well, pointless on your car mate.

The bulkhead is just the start! Its just gonna be just as hard as welding in a full width webber box at the end of the day. I'm just trying to be different as most stuff has already been done to minis!

I've also got a 91 cooper which has 13"superlights on And have said ever since fitting them i'd never do it again as it kills the ride quality. So going back to 10" Also its the Want to be different thing again as most valvers have 13"+. Plus most others wont expect a mini on 10" to be so quick :ermm:
