Despite what everyone says I have used Myhermes courier for the last couple of years and have never really had an issue with them. They lost one of my parcels (or so the person on ebay who bought it claims) but they dealt with it in a professional manned and refunded me.

Apart from that I have never had an issue with them up until the last month. In the last month they have lost another one of my parcels and this time trying to get my money back off them has been a lot harder but I have managed it but the thing that has really annoyed me is that they have now twice claimed that my parcels have been overweight and have tried to charge me extra for them.

The first had been delivered days before they claimed that they were holding it because it was overweight, the person on ebay who had bought it had already left feedback with it saying they were happy with the item and as it was sent abroad so had gone through ebay's global shipping program, I even had confirmation from ebay to say that they had received it at their depot. MyHermes sent an invoice to my paypal account asking for the additional charge. As I know it had been delivered I opted to cancel the invoice and not pay it, and I sent a fairly strongly worded e-mail to MyHermes which to sum up basically said their claim was false and that I would not be paying it.

This week I have had another item that they claim is overweight. It is supposedly overweight by exactly the same amount as they claimed the other one had been (700g), they are trying to charge me exactly the same amount as they were before, the buyer hasn't received it yet but according to myhermes courier it has been through its sorting office and made its way to the recipients local distribution centre today whereas yesterday it had only reached the sorting office and finally I have the mirror image item off the other side of the car which I have checked with the same scales as I used before and the scales we use at work which are calibrated every audit (and our last one was only about 2 months ago) and both of these say that it is within the tariff I paid.

I've opted to not to pay and wait and see what happens. MyHermes stand to loose a lot more over this than I do, i.e. all of my business from now on. I stand to loose £3.78 and a piece of trim from a Vectra.

Is anyone else having similar issue with MyHermes courier lately or is it just me?

Twice we have had them deliver a parcel to our house, both times they said they had left the parcel in the shed. Good going considering they would have to jump over a 6ft locked gate then cut their way into the locked shed.

When confronted with this they then said "oh it was left by the shed" again they still have to climb over a 6ft fence to achieve this.

After that they ceded defeat. So going from that how trustworthy are they then?? Trying their luck. Oh and the other one was "we rang the bell and left a note" So who's house did you do that exactly with then?? The fact i was in all day and was waiting for said parcel??

We still use them to send stuff occasionally but not my first choice of parcel service i have to say.

I can't fault them. Used them over 30 times now and have been spot on. I have had an overweight item once, but I didnt have the scales to hand so guessed, but i was really generous, yet still overweight by 6kg haha

I have said this before in another thread but the biggest problem with MyHermes is that all the local agents that collect parcels and deliver to the door are just local Joe Bloggs in their own car/van.

With that in mind, it is unsurprising that some areas have problems and others don't.

I use them all the time and never really had a problem.

It's just luck of the draw as to who is going to be handling the parcels and their work ethic i suppose.

As for the weight, i too would be asking alot more questions about that. I have sent items that are right on the weight limit using just ordinary bathroom scales and never had an issue

I have used myhermes over 100 times, and I've had issues twice. Once they smashed a headlight which was fairly well packaged and the second time someone opened a parcel and stole items from it. I had to take the hit on the headlight because they don't cover glass but I fought the stolen items one and won.

I wonder whether they're struggling by being so cheap? I saw an advert for a delivery driver offering 50p a parcel. You'd want a lot of parcels within very close proximity to make that financially viable.

I think the claim is genuinely from them as the claim e-mail I was sent and the invoice received via paypal both make reference to the same parcel number. The account that the paypal invoice is from is the same that you normally pay for shipping.

Funny thing is, is that I have checked the status of it this morning and it has moved onto the next step so it must be going through their system.

As for the weight of the parcel. It states in the agreement that you have to tick to send they do not have to prove the weight of the parcel but this goes against the 'innocent until proven otherwise' a fairly fundamental part of English law. I have pointed this out to them in my strongly worded e-mail that I sent as well as already requesting for photographic evidence of the parcel on the scales and it showing the weight as well as the calibration certificates that must be able to be traced back to one of the metrology labs in the Uk. If the certificate can't be traced back then it isn't calibrated.

This was the first thing I did when I received the e-mail and invoice from them. I've yet to get a reply. I e-mailed them before with the previous parcel and never got a reply hence why I have decided again not to pay.

I've never had any problems with them, in fact i recommend them to a number of friends. Will be thinking twice about sending heavy stuff though as it seems these instances all relate to larger or heavier items.

As said, delivery inbound is down to the local representative. If you have a good one, then fantastic. But if, like around here, you have a total moron who leaves minimal information and doesn't follow requests to leave it in my 'safe place' despite saying I won't be there to sign for it on a headed and signed letter.

Not in my case. Its always items that are 1-2kg in weight and I have both times been told that the parcel was 2.7kg when I had only paid for 2kg. I checked the trim panel from the other side and it came out as just under 1.5kg.

According to myhermes tracking the parcel was delivered about an hour ago. So much for it being overweight.

They must have charged extra for overweight of parcels. Weight wise charges are already mention here under the heading "How much will it cost to send my parcel through myHermes?" Bring this fact before  Hermis Customer Service.
