I put my fabrication hat on, took the car into work and cracked on with making some seat mounts for the seat. I didnt really want to weld the shell or drill any more holes, so decided to adapt standard seat brackets. The mini was only just higher than the workshop table Painted the brackets a odd shade of green. Also made a bracket to hold the fire extinguisher thats been rolling about my rear bin for ages. I welded a strip inbetween the passenger seat mounts, drilled some speed holes ;) and painted it to match.
The bucket seat also got a make over, I repainted the back of it from boring black, to silver, with glitter laquer, and of course added a few stickers. The got my grandma to sew me a cushion to make it slightly more comfy. Both the seat and harness owe me less than £100 so I was well happy!
And finally I did my front cones again. These non genuines had done about 600 miles and collapsed completely. I could remove the trumpets without a compressor. Bought genuine this time, lost all my stance ffs, and my passenger side is way higher than my drivers. Dont know why, I replaced the nylon cups and everything and its seated properly. Maybe because I've only driven it on my own so far, so the drivers side has more weight?

I had that same problem with my suspension! Had to keep on winding up the Hi-Lo on the drivers side but the passenger side stayed where it was :/

So, a lidl update. I really wasnt happy with the 3" arch gap that my new cones left me with, and after seeing a mates car where the cones never settled, and hearing stories about them not settling well at all, I decided to modify my hilo's. I took off the locking nut and machined 5mm from the body, this allowed me to get a decent height now and if they go down, I've still got plenty to lift it back up!

Those cracks look a bit dodgy... Will the fibreglass front end be coming off for some repairs? Glad that you've gotten the suspension fixed.

Couple pics from Combe yesterday was good show, unfortunately my nice side exit pipe proved to be too loud at 106db (limit was 100). Its my own fault, so have got to make a baffle or swap my old rc40 back in for Trax this weekend
Also in 2 minds with the car atm. I really enjoyed driving it down and back yesterday and had a bit of a play with some cars on the way back . I have always been dead set on do a 16v conversion, got it all planned out, etc. BUT now I'm thinking, will it be such a good idea. The car is running really well atm, handle great, pulls strong and I dont really know if I should take it off the road when its all so peachy!

Cheers Vin, I'll probably get a new front end eventually or maybe do a metal front as the fit is awful. I'm not too fussed atm as the car will be coming off the road end of the month anyway

Personally, I'd keep the A Series, but if you're dead set on a swap, wait until something goes wrong, then do the conversion.
I really want your Mini!

Went to Trax at the weekend, awesome day out and did a bit of track time! It's fair to say I'm kind of hooked lol.
Had to remove my side exit exhaust so welded a ruddy great tip on to the old RC40, with a splash of white to match the front
I'm going on a little run out with it tomorrow and got a local meet on Sunday, before I retire it for the winter.
Also my wheels I ordered yonks ago still haven't one through :-(
