Hi wonder is anyone here can help or point me in some kind of direction. I have aquired a 64 mk1 mini super deluxe which has been stood around 30 years. I have no paper work for the car or reg number ,I have got a heritage certificate which states chassis number ect from the engine and body number tag on the floor. Now I would like to get a v5c sorted before I get too involved in restoring it so I won't be wasting money restoring something that I can't register. I have spoke to the DVLA and basically they couldn't help much.

Sorry for the essay but and help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think there is a club for early cars who the DVLA normally want some kind of letter agreeing that you do have what you think, the heritage cert has the same numbers as the body and the engine then? That sounds like a good start to me even if you end up with an age related plate with the new V5c.

You need to speak with the people involved in sorting out dating letters who will have done this many times etc via one of the MK1 clubs IMO, anyone here able to point the OP towards a good contact???

you should get an age related plate if you can prove what the car was, apply for a v5 with the details you have and see how you do

Yea the engine number and the body number in the floor match up even the colour and spec of the car seems right. I'll have to try. Only thing the DVLA would say is that it needs to be mot'd and ready for the road. Surely this can't be right

I've registered scooters in the past, a vespa post 1960 which does need an mot, and my Lambretta 1959 doesn't need an mot as its pre 1960, in both cases I needed a dating certificate from the clubs that the dvla recognise as a legit source for them to consider registration, sometimes dvla ask to see the vehicle, depends I suppose, but if you go on the dvla website you can apply for the registration pack which can help too and tells you what information they need to register it, its not that daunting, but, with my vespa needing an mot before registering you need to restore first

Unless you know the registration then you need to follow this guidance https://www.gov.uk/v...on/old-vehicles

I looked into registering a Raleigh Runabout moped which had a buff logbook and old MOTs etc and was told I needed a n MOT before I could re-register for a V5.
