So we've had a problem starting it, had to keep bumping it, decided it needed a new starter motor, so we bought a high torque one, was a right pain to fit because the bottom bolt was so awkward.
Anyway got it fitted and now it starts like a dream.
However on the first drive the throttle cable snapped about 50m up the road.

Jared, they had 998 engines in production in SA with the canister oil filter until '74. They were used on the mini 1000 deluxe. So it could be one of those?
I'm not sure if the vans used the 998 or 1098 motor at that time.
It's quoted as a 1380, that's why I'm curious.
Could it just be a bored out 998?
The 1100 motor is a 1275 block with a different stroke

So she made to London to Brighton and back again, with only a few over heating problems. Thanks to the guy that offered to help push her while we turned her off in the traffic.
