i think my 1310 could do with the block re-done.. there are a few scratches which i thought were not deep enuf, but itseems the pistons are v slightly damp with oil.
when i look down the bore i can see the rings, so i think its been done before and had oversized rings because there is more than usual play in there.
i dont want to use the same block because i think its already done...
can i get the block re-shelled, and how much?
can i bore out another block, its originally a-series, how much?
im thinking of getting rid of the engine, but i am not sure, keeping all the parts off it i could use them again... any suggestions?
paul inch? (rich)

A 1310 is just a 1275 with a 20thou overbore (I think). So, if there is nothing wrong with the rest of the engine the easiest thing would be to get a 40 or a 60thou bore and some new pistons, or get it bored out to 73.5mm for a 1380.
I'm not sure about cost. It's probably worth getting the crank reground and and some new bearings at the same time. A rough guess 200 to 300 squid.
If you got a new engine you could do all the above to it no problem.
Is that the answer you wanted?

You can get the block sleeved, but it would be better to either get a new block and re-bored, or the better of the 2 options, get it taken out to the next size and stick some new pistons in it :)
While its apart, i would get it the crank checked out and re-ground if it needs it. Whenever you strip an engine, its always advisable to fit new big end and main bearings and also thrusts.
In the long run, your better off going for a bigger size and keeping the block you've got. You can sell the old pistons on and make a bit of money back...

you know i got inch to do my big ones plus i think 1380's are too unreliable i heard.. (especially the way i drive mini's)
the engine is fine barring the bores...
