Okay so after a small crash in my mini and the piston oil seals going in my 1098 engine, i decided enough was enough and so i brought a sensible but fun daily car. After days of searching and looking at some terrible examples of lupos i found the one.

it is a 2000 lupo 1.4 tdi pd in blue, comes with; electric sunroof, electric mirrors, alloys, spot lights and a cd player and with 75bhp and 190nm of torque it goes a lot better than my mini !

don't worry though, i still have the mini and haven't lost enthusiasm for it, and this time next year it should be well and truly back in the road with a newly rebuild engine and front end, with lots of other niggly bits being sorted too.

anyway enough about the mini. so far on the lupo i have done :

  • New vw centre caps
  • chrome vw valve caps
  • new black carpet mats
  • full wash and detail
  • fit an engine cover that was missing
  • clean and repaint wiper arms
  • clean and repaint wheel nut dust covers
  • under car clean up, cleaning up surface rust on parts and paining a few things.

just looked it up and a polo is a whole 2 seconds slower to 60 than the lupo and has 5 less bhp so it might have felt sluggish in that, but don't forget the lupo weighs a lot less, so its not sluggish in this  :proud:

a fellow dubber! I bet the mpg is fantastic from that. I've got a 1.9pd in my golf which I think is pretty much the same but with an extra cylinder and that easily does 60+ mpg if I'm not too heavy footed. I think as modern small cars go these are actually quite interesting

yeah i got around 350 miles to a tank, which cost me £37 to fill and as its new to me i haven't done too many trips without giving it the boot ! this was mainly around town with only a few short motorway trips, works out at around 100 miles to £10

and yeah i think they are interesting, wanted something modern and well made so i went for a vw, i have no clue about the battery but on the fairly comprehensive service history there is no mention of a batt change

Love a Lupo!

Yours is a very tidy example. Looks like it's been looked after; they're getting hard to find in this condition so you have done well :gimme:
