Next up came some sanding. Well a lot on the lids as they were fairly uneven. I was shocked at how 'bad' they looked mid-sand (SPOILERS THIS IS NORMAL). There was more flatting after this but I didn't get photos:

Note: the heart is something from my daughters playhouse that she wanted me to fix :-):

After cleaning the parts I brushed on a very thin layer of resin. This will be finished with wet and dry, followed by a polish next week.

Yesterday I started the wet sanding to get a nice flat surface. Progressing from 400, 800 to 1200 grits until I was left with a satin but smooth finish:

The parts look largely like this when wet sanded, which again is pretty scary:

ps2VKzD.jpg

But then after polishing I got it looking half decent:

GqyBGBI.jpg

And then after more pretty good:

amVtPIE.jpg

So I gave it a trial fit:

In the car:

Next up:

more polishing

contemplate getting it clear coated by someone else

finish the glove box lids (i've something funky planned for the inside)

I've also had a stab at making a rad bracket. It's not professional standard, but I am still learning:

1. black epoxy

QBHATIP.jpg

2. carbon

KSCEw5x.jpg

3. resin

4. trial fit last week

5. Almost done

Well I’m back and on the march toward MOT next week in time for IMM. I’ve been working on the interior more.

Mocking up new brackets to replace the temporary ones

I’ve also worked on the interior floor. More photos to follow.

This is what the interior floor looked like (more photos a page back)

So I cleaned the floor up. Gave it a dusting of etch primer where needed and then rolled on the Raptor. I’ve loads of photos but this happened ages ago

Then some silent coat

Then carpet and seats back in

Then onto finishing touches.

I was going to make glove boxes but quickly realised that was crazy talk, and went with liners instead

I replaced all of these rusty buggers with shiny ones

I worked on getting all the gauges working. This was a pain and the speedo/VeeThree sender didn’t work for me at first. The guys from digital speedos tested them both; neither had a fault. I put it back in the car, in exactly the same way, and the speedo now works - god knows why.

I now have a digital smiths speedo; modified so the indicators use the orange lights. I made up a proper loom for this you can see in previous photos. I also have ST700 race dash (fuel pressure, voltage, speed, timer, revs, shift indicator etc), oil pressure, water temp and oil temp - all pro control. These power my fan, oil warning and are all round shiny.

I’ve powered these via a wicked new wired by Wilson fuse box I’ve fitted under the dash. It’s a work of art. I’ll try and find photos.

Here’s the dash in the car.

Ny2bGjs.jpg

I’ve also fitted a lightweight heater, slim ‘early’ vents and more. I found a dude on Instagram to make the dash handles and this mega gear knob from reclaimed skateboards

Today I took it for a pamper. Bumble was filthy. This was the result

Tomorrow I’ve got some more small touches, more carbon and some configuring of gauges to do in time for the 60 year day at IMM.

I bought a neat carbon cover from CarbonWeezle and gave it a trial fit but wanted something to snazzy it up a bit. I found someone to design and make a logo and I’m thrilled with it:

fmXydTc.jpg

I had a smaller one made for the back, but messed up with the size. I left the middle bit for the time being until the dude makes me another:

I also added some insta stickers. Not sure if these will stay:
