Anybody here able to help me out a little, I have the said bike, and battery went flat while riding the bike.... Jump started it and it sat their running and managed to ride home , without indicators, lights or little braking just incase,

Put it on the trickle charger for a while, put my MM on amps and tested for leaks (disconnected negative and put it in between) and shows 0 reading....

Battery shows 11.6v, drops to about 8 while starting and charges at 13, nothing in use, drops to about 12.3 when lights turned on....

What's next?

Thanks

A "good" battery will show 12.7v on a M/M , a "dead" battery will show 11.7v or less. You have a "dead" battery.

Charged it up over night.... 12.18v battery is showing.... New battery time and then re-test to see if the bike is charging it?

I've got an '09 FZ6n S2, it has the same R6 motor, I keep mine on a battery conditioner all year, £30 one off is cheaper than a battery every two years ime.

Yamahas are good at dropping one phase on the stator, the voltage output from the rectifier then tends to look normal (depending on the reaction time of the meter you are using) but there isn't actually enough output to charge anything properly.  I'm currently fighting with a Rhino at work daily which needs a new stator and all I do is strap a massive bettery into it that I charge now and then.  There are loads of videos on the web showing you how to test the individual phases on the stator.  It probably needs a new one, and a new battery.
