Hello everyone,

I have a chance of buying a mk2 mini 1969, just wanted to know what you think, it's a portugese modal with windup windows, hydrolastic suspension 998cc single carb, army green (original colour), 40 000 miles on the clock.

What do you think ???

Very rare - what is the asking price?

What colour is it? I love left-hand-drive cars.

The asking price is 3000 euros - not sure about the colour exactly the only time I'll get to see it is when I buy it (500miles away)

So long as that is a completely rust-free body the price is not too bad - maybe slightly on the high side. It obviously needs a re-fresh of the paint and, presumably some more work, but it is rare, especially LHD and will make a very nice original classic Mini when done.

Apparently it has no holes but some surface rust, been sat there for 15 years but engine not blocked, probably would redo everything on it (o from hydro to dry suspension ?) I'm trying to he him down to 2500 but I've been looking for a mk2 for ages to redo (but without bodywork needed).

Hopfully there won't be any surprises, what would you probably pay ?

If the bodywork is solid, I would be happy paying 2500 euros for it. I love cars like this.

I don't think I would go over about £2000 for that including getting it into this country. It will need a full rebuild including a proper professional paint job and that will be around £1500.

Will a LHD car be as valuable in the UK? I love LHD cars and have owned several over the years, but some people are a bit 'funny' about them. My wife will never drive one..

He lives in France, so LHD is a bonus!

Sorry, hadn't noticed that.
I had a LHD classic Porsche for over 16 years and it was never a problem, but as I said, my wife would never drive it.
I also had a LHD Innocenti Mini-Cooper (in fact that is the only genuine type, they never made a RHD version) and it was very nice to drive.

got some more pics of the guy, quite a bit of rust (surfuce rust) no holes, but yeah a lot of work. Offer stands at 1800 pounds and he'll get back to me monday. Another thing i learnt was that it's still in a Portugese documents and putting it in to french would need a conformity certificat, how hard would this be to get ?

New BMC Plant In Portugal

18 February 1963

The British Motor Corporation announce that their Austin and Morris cars and commercial vehicles are to be built in Portugal.

Assembly will be undertaken by Industria de Montagem de Automoveis Lda. (I.M.A.), in a new factory now under construction near Setubal, a port 25 miles south of Lisbon. The newly formed company is a joint enterprise of B.M.C.'s two distributors- J. J. Goncalves, Sucrs., and A. M. Almeida. Lda., in cooperation with B.M.C.

The association thus established provides for full-scale technical assistance which will enable the use of certain Portuguese-made components to assist in the development of national industry This new plant will provide capacity for around 600 vehicles a month. Production of commercial vehicles-is expected to start mid-year and of passenger carsicon1.png by the year- end and initially employment will be giver to about 200 persons.

B.M.C. sales to Portugal have more than doubled in the last three years to represent over 15 per cent of the total market.
