Hi;

I am replacing all of the brake pipes on the Rear Subframe but the length that runs from the rear to the front of the Mini seems ok, was just covering in underseal etc.

I have cleaned it off and the pipes look OK, can I paint them?

I was going to smoke some U-POP Etch Grey Primer and then Red Enamel or just straight on with Blue Smooth Hammerite. Just some paint that I have spare?

Some MOT Testers do not like paint or underseal covered brakepipes as they cant see the condition of the pipes beneath.

Probably for corrosion protection but to me its a two way street, you don't paint them they rust, you do paint them and then you can't see the rust (hole). Assuming they're steel tubing. IMO, I'd leave them with just a spray of tectyle or similar, or get copper* ones.

* copper lines aren't actually allowed over here.

I bet I could fit a new Kunifer pipe in the time it takes to clean and paint all the metal surface of the front to rear, fit a new Kunifer pipe and forget it,

Basically but they have different ratios of metals in them. There are a few different grades of each.

I seem to remember Demon Tweeks stocking stainless hard line systems, stainless is a bit brittle for brake lines though surely?

To clean and paint them properly you're going to have to partially remove them.

Just remove them and fit Kunifer
