Personally I feel there is a lot to be said for just having a few cruises / evening meets this year. I'd imagine theres so many shows and events for both camps it would be near impossible to get a suitable weekend event sorted this year? many volkstorque members seem to be midlands based, so that seems a fairly sensible location? next year, a weekend camp/drinking session would be awesome, so most people would have time to make preparations for it and plan around other shows.

I think you need to set up a committee or working party to set this up properly its all well and good all us lot throwing ideas at you, but you need a core group to make the decisions arrangements and raise the finances required and set up a business plan (any financial backer will want to know/see how you will be able to get them there money back)

I'd be willing to put money up for it if needed.

Likes this one.....

Mother and Dad have a VW each (1 camper & 1 workhorse) sister has one beeing "done up" and has been in "doing up state for 3 years" so may get her motivated.

I HAVE A MINI - sounds like a good way of getting my folks together!!!!

Any more thoughts on this.....

Has anybody got this any further than a questions yet????

I am willing to help if needed........

Just a quick update:

im still in talks with some people on where to go with this.

we want to test the water to see the reaction we get from both sides.

nothing will happen till about march of next year but we are talking about something very low key for now eg a simple cruise, or just plain and simple camping but with both clubs.

maybe even a cruise up/ down then camp and then cruise back? over a weekend?

once we have ideas on the intrest it causes we will then have an idea on weather or not to go the hole hog for something big, half hog for something semi big or just not worth bothering.

still open to ideas but thats whats happening at the mo,

even thought if we get a hole load of mini to turn up to a VW show. that will casue a stir and hopefully turn some head as they will all be used to seeing VWs we are somthing differant.

or! i could invite them to join us at drag wars??? (but thats getting on into the year then.) but its an idea

not sure but somthing will happen. if you hae any idea PM me or post them up here.

I say just have a camping weekend at Billing. We could run our own (admittedly very inaccurate) drag strip, where we could just see who can make it to the end quickest, erm, show and shine, I dunno...

be hard to do a show N shine tho because most of the VWs campers bugs etc are stored over winter where most minis are driven daily or driven alot.

so showNshine would be hard, unless we had 2 showNshines?

Drag strip sound good.... whats this billing? never heard of it before?

Billing Aerodrome, half way down the M1, very easy to get to, and a central location to the country.

Hello folks,

My pals and i are crossed with the scenes, some got vdubs, some got minis, but we all love the beer...!!!

This sounds like a flippin ace idea and a good chance to drool over Karmann Ghias and Coop esses all on the same weekend.
And wales sounds perfect......

It's Billing Aquadrome and it's a leisure/camping/boating/caravaning-type place.
