In the process of fitting the center dash binnacle and clocks / gauges. bought the complete kit from m/s.

putting this in a 1993 mini. i dont have too much of a problem soldering the existing loom onto the smiths kit loom as its pretty much self explanatery and colour to colour.

BUT not to sure on what wires in the new loom with kit goes to the fuel gauge, voltage stabiliser and the OIL gauge.

Ive always had mechanical oil gauges which are simple as you just connect the oil feed pipe to it. however this is the first time ive fitted the type with two spade connectors on the back so any idea  what colour wires go to it from the loom??.

Also i only have one wire from the oil sensor on the block and that colour wire does not correspond with any in the new loom.

The diagrams with the kit is crap, doesnt tell you any colours.

hope someone on here has the answers. thanks :-)

The voltage stabilizer is marked B where it goes to the 12v supply and I where it has to go to the instruments. Its indifferent which terminal you use for the temp and the fuel gauge..its the same feed.

These are the colours

16.jpg

- White - - - Ignition live.

- Black - - - Earth.

- Green with red - - - Left indicator warning light.

- Blue with White - - - High beams warning light.

- Green with blue - - - Water temperature gauge feed.
- Green with back - - - Fuel gauge feed.
- Green with White - - - Right indicator warning light.

- Red with green - - - Dash illumination.
- White with brown - - - Oil pressure warning light.
- Brown with yellow - - - Ignition warning light.

What type of oil gauge is that?

So does the white cable in the wiring loom that come with the dash kit go to the "B" on voltage stabiliser??

Yes, and i add, as always with classic cars check with a multimeter, you never know the history of a used wiring loom..when you switch ignition to II you will have a costant 12,6V on the white terminal

From memory a mechanical smiths oil pressure gauge should have two electrical feeds, one is illumination, the other is the ground for the bulb
