Dunno that sub wasnt easy to get in lol

Either way im out of room stuffs gotta go back on the car to keep it out the way and stop it getting damaged so much.

The bits like battery cable and petrol pipe should be here today but the brake lines are on order so will be a few weeks yet ...its a diagonal split with drum brakes so its not kept on the shelf apparently,i could make the lines of course i have the tools for it but im a bit lazy and not very good at it ...like most things :)

Early finish today ..things have gone pretty well so its time to walk away before they have chance to go wrong lol

Ive painted a mini engine bay before, but i'd forgotten how akward it is and how difficult it is to get paint in all the creases.

That said ive got a few minor runs but its a price i' willing to pay if it means i have full coverage.

This is the main one.

image_40.jpeg

Also got a few on the drivers side inner wing.

But overall i'm pretty chuffed, the finish is a little orange peely but thats to be expected with my skill level :) just hope it all dries ok now and doesnt go too flat as it dries, polishing the engine bay would be a right mare.

Not a good day today, lots of little problems such as the paint on the bulkhead in the boot reacted with my primer and my little triangular hand sander that i use for the akward bits decided to go pop.I also seemed to walk into or sit on everything today i'm covered in bruises and grazes.

But despite all that ive still made a bit of progress :)

First up i sorted the hole in the bulkhead, now iv'e been wondering what to do with this for a while and i'm sure some won't like how i sorted it but basically my ability to make a panel to fit a hole for butt welding is nearly as bad as my ability to cut straight edges on the hole in the first place so i decided to make a patch about a centimetre too big all the way around,i then joggled holes in it and plug welded it in.Then i ran little seams round both sides (boot side and interior) It took ages as i was carefull not to warp the panel and also very carefull to make sure the penetration was good as it is the bulkhead. It's not as neat as i would of liked but it is solid.

I'm now 100% confident that in the event of a rear end shunt,The middle of the bulkhead won't be a weak point that will fold up.Itl be behind sound deadening, bootliners and the rear seat so no one will ever know its there.

image_42.jpeg

I then fitted the front subframe as im sick of falling over the dam thing.

image_43.jpeg

And finally prepped primed and seam sealed the boot. The plan tommorow is to flat back all the bits in the boot that reacted and then re prime it and get it painted.

Bit more to report ...boots painted.

2.photobucket.com/user/feybrand/media/image_44.jpeg.html]image_44.jpeg[/URL]

I then did lots of bits and pieces,Fitted the front top arms and lower arms but couldnt fit the hubs yet as i have bought the wrong bearings ..doh!!!!

Also the radius arms are on and ive fitted the petrol hardline and the battery cable and am now starting to free up room on the shelves in my garage :)

I also trial fitted the wheels as i don't want to run arches if i can get away with it.

Think im gonna have to wait till i fit tyres and drop it down to make the call.

Very small update

I haven't touched the car in months due to getting thoroughly hacked off with the last bit of the door gap but today i decided to do something simple and fit the brake pipes.

Yes i said simple ...........

I think the only thing thats simple in this restoration is the numpty building the car.

No progress to report on this i'm afraid....i've spent the last 2 weeks painting my garage instead ...32 litres of emulsion later and i can finally see what i'm doing in there :).

Got this week off work so i'm hopefully going to gt the inside painted i'll post pics if i can find an image sharing site that aren't greedy.

I did manage to pick up lots of bits for this at Stanford the other week however,£600's worth of bits including a set of tyres so the car now rolls.

Never been to the Stanford show before as far as i can remember...it was a good show loads of cars there and a lot of stalls i'll be going again next time.

Used to always go to uttoxeter as its so close to me but its been dwindling since they stopped having russ swift do his stunts and it got cancelled this year ...don't know if thats the end of a show there ?

Plans have changed and i've decided to go back to the original grille again so first job of my week off was lining that up and welding the lip back on the bonnet

I also cleaned off the underside of the bonnet properly and got a better look at the 2 stickers that are on there

Its not show winning ...as it was painted by me ...but im pretty happy with it especially as painting the inside of the car is very tricky.
