I stripped an old 998 Cooper engine and one of the head studs sheared off flush with the block deck. I tried a fairly big 'Easy-Out', bearing in mind it is a 3/8" stud. The EZ-OUT snapped level with the block deck and I had to get friend who had a dentists drill to come and drill a series of small diameter holes around the edge of the stud. Eventually we got it all out and then I had to fit a 3/8" UNC Heli-Coil. I wished I had done the job correctly in the first place. To make sure the drill went in absolutely vertically I had to weld up a jig to bolt to the adjacent stud holes with a piece of tube with a 10mm bore as guide tube.
