thanks - it's not a cheap way to go it has to be said, but it allows you to create your ideal mini whereas if I'd bought a Mk1 I'd feel I had to restore it to it's original spec.
If I sold it when it's finished there's no way I'd get my outlay back but I suppose not many projects are done for financial reasons!
I spent most of today trying to plate my nuts, bolts and other parts that need to be re-furbished.
It wasn't successful for some reason - couldn't get the zinc to stick so I think I'll give up the home plating and take it all to the professionals.
I've also been treating the fixings with deox c to remove the rust and that is proving more successful thankfully.
I've only got a few more parts left to paint now - the brake servo, driveshafts and fuel tank strap so I really need the fixings to start making up sub assemblies ready for when the shell arrives back.

Looks like a very quick turnaround,
I'm jealous because mine is still only half done and i have been working on it for years.

Cleaned and painted the brake master and bias valve and clutch slave cylinder - strangely my car had both the upright type of brake master and the servoed type fitted when we bought it although I didn't notice whether both were connected when I took it all apart.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement bung for the end of the brake bias valve?
I've painted the servo gloss black (twice, because of some spots of WD40 or something contaminating it even though I wiped it down with white spirit).
On Monday I'll be fitting the rear subframe to the shell so we can turn it over to prep the inside.

Today I bolted on the rear subframe and we turned the car over onto it's back wheels so that I could start cleaning out the remaining bitumen soundproofing from the floor - it comes off fairly well with thinners but I have got a headache from the fumes!
At least it's starting to look like a car again with some wheels!
