Plates painted and drilled - I'm pleased with the result - I think they suit the look of the car much better.

I've also got an RAC stamped alloy GB plate that I think I'll mount to the side of the number plate on an horizontal flat bar using the plate bolts to secure it as I'm reluctant to drill the bootlid.015_zpsmktuadqe.jpg

Awesome car, nice to see someone with patience to finish things so nicely. I always rush to get things done.

See my signature for my mk1alike project too.

Thanks, nice little racer you've built.   What Cobra is that? - I sold my Southern Roadcraft SRV8 to make room for the Mini project

Quite early for a rep - sounds like quite a beast - any pics?

Sorted out why I had no lights at all today - loose connector on the toggle switch and finished off the new numberplates and GB badge

That rear end looks so similar to my own, except I have mk2 lights and a later boot lid. Even the fog lamp mounted in the same place under the bumper

Excellent, this is something I really want to do once mine is on the road.  Ideally for my 30th next June but whether my mini will be ready by then is another question altogether :s  Youve done a great job of the car too...well done :)

Did you make it?

I'm now realising I don't have any pics from the last few weeks, I'll take one and post it

Yes older now than the original was at the time created. Probably could have bought a real one back then for similar money.

Have a look at the leadfoot link in my signature, lots of photos.

Phase 2 - 1275 power! The (loose) plan is to have the 12g940 big valve head ported a little, a fast road cam and maybe an Aldon dizzy together with stage 1 exhaust.
A quick tot up of missing and new uprated parts (excluding carbs and any new bearings etc) is £1300. For now I'll just strip it and re-furbish the covers and ancillaries  1275b_zpsgulxdrbh.jpg

I've taken advantage of the sunshine to wire wheel a few parts of the 1275.  Then I hammered out the convex dimple on the timing cover in case I decide to go Duplex, together with a few other dents and while I was at it ground off the timing set-up thingy that I hope I read correctly isn't any use for anything! Now I'll get these parts blasted to remove the old paint other methods can't reach, then repaint them. Also started sanding and polishing the clutch cover - a bit more work required although I'm not going too crazy with it.1275%20timing%20cover_zpszwwrdmqt.jpg 1275%20rocker%20cover_zpsapi1yost.jpg
