Hi all,

Trying to do a bit of research on my next purchase and I see a lot of differing opinion but no definitive answer. For your money, which is the best hi-lo kit on the market?

Regards
Steve

Spooky. Just put a set of ripspeed ones on eBay.

Not sure why, but apparently they are the dogs danglies.

Spooky the Ripspeeds are I belive the original and best.

But make sure they come with the key. And you are prepared to drill the rear valance.

Presuming they have not changed the design.

What made them good was the contact profile to the rubber.

Definitely Ripspeed.

Nick, I think they have changed the design as I've bought two new sets in the last year or two and they don't require a key or rear valence mod :)

The set I have can be wound up with a pair of spanners.

No need to cut your rear valance.

And yes, they have a larger contact area with the cone.

Hi-Los are Hi-Los, nothing else is a Hi-Lo. Mini Spares make and sell them, they were designed and patented by Ripspeed long before Halfords brought the brand as a badge to make chavs buy shiny junk. Adjust-a-Rides and everything else are just cheap copies and all they do is allow adjustable height. Hi-Los also increase the spring rate to compensate for the loss of travel, they do this by having a larger and specifically shaped contact area with the rubber as said above. This is what is patented and that's why the other brands don't do it. So the best Hi-Lo kit is a Hi-Lo kit, with Hi-Lo written on it, everything else is a copy.
