Have managed to get some more done tonight, I made a new parcel shelf out of 12mm MDF just traced round the old one, then a traced a second one but added 40mm onto the straight edge and cut the length down just after the tank. I have fixed the underneath parcel shelf with M8 s/s countersunk dome heads with prong T nuts, all I need to do now is make the box for the sub which will be a wedge shape with a volume of 0.35ft3 and with a internal bracer and I shall seal the inside with milkshake. Well that's me nearly finished the sub box, just waiting on my speaker post to come then I can carry on with the resin. I have braced the box which may be a bit ott but I need to bring down the internal volume by 0.5-0.7ft3 and doing the bracing and adding resin has helped, a least the box will last lol.

I was going to start on the dash if Huddersfield spares pull there finger out and let me know what's going on with the rollcage I ordered so I see where to fit the mids, dials and iPad 😠

Box looks sweet, how far do you think it will protrude into the boot once fitted?

I did test fit it to make sure it still fitted and I was happy how much room it took up but then again I'm happy to lose the room, the box hangs down 10inch from the underside of parcel shelf and is 20inch long. If I get time tomorrow I shall fit it at take some photos.

Sounds good, I'm wondering what sort of clearance you'll have in getting your spare wheel and battery in and out of your mini as my double 10" box is a heavy nipper and this looks to be a very good plan in making the boot contents more accessible.

Here's the photos of it install (not pernement), still have room to get the spare wheel in and out the same for the battery. I took a measurement from the highest point on the boot floor (to the right of the battery) and there's 8inches of clearance. The boots a bit messy at the minute. The box is now finished, the inside has been fully resined and the odd piece of 2mm silent coat and braced up. I have covered the outside (what will be seen) with sub box carpet. My next job will be to line the boot with MDF and cover that with the same stuff.Attached File  image.jpg   43.35K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   38.69K   2 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   34.99K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   32.79K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   54.93K   5 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   50.26K   2 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   54.18K   2 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   36.5K   4 downloads

I was away on holiday for a couple of weeks so I was more than happy to crack on with the boot, the two side panels and back panel is 9mm mdf while the floor section is 18mm. I made up brackets with threaded inserts so I could bolt the pieces together, the right hand panel will house two anl fuse holders, one is 0awg from alt (150amp) other is 4awg (80 amp) will feed my two amps, Also made a quick release battery cover section. I just need to cut the flexi mdf section for the tank cover. Here's how she looks so far.Attached File  image.jpg   50.26K   5 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   60.68K   1 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   65.77K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   68.75K   1 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   63.51K   16 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   52.57K   6 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   46.92K   3 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   67K   8 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   67K   8 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   66.95K   3 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   63.74K   0 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   95.11K   1 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   68.67K   1 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   88.59K   2 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   65.7K   1 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   69.73K   0 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   86.99K   3 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   79.96K   0 downloads
I shall take some pics of the whole boot when it's finished.

That's looking really good and you've still got a fair amount of usable space in your boot.

That's the building part of the boot finished just need to wire in the fuse holders and fit a knob to the battery compartment lid. It's all held together with M6x40 s/s button head hidden by the black screw head covers.Attached File  image.jpg   64.81K   21 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   74.33K   13 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   56.59K   9 downloads
Dont worry about the boot lid as I have a fibreglass one with new stays and hinges, that's my next job.

Ok it's been a couple of months since I last posted so thought I'd share some of the progress so far. I am in the middle of a few jobs which are dash board, centre console and rear amp rack. I have also finished off all the sounddeading which consists of 2mm SC, 10mm CSF, 2mm MLV then underlay and carpet on top.

Any idea how much weight you've added by putting all that sound deadening etc.. in? I've always wondered how much weight you add when you do a job properly like you are... Looks good though, really neat install.
