Hi, new member with my first mini or... a few pieces of mini and a lot of rust.

It all started when a friend at work was talking about all the minis he had owned, all 12 of them...

He asked me if i wanted to come with him and help him pick up 2 clubmans a saloon and a convertible.

So i we picked upp the cars, the convertible was almost complete while the saloon was just the body and a few parts.

A week later he asked if i wanted to buy one of the cars since his girlfriend was very pissed off since he had bought to many cars. (His "budget" was 4 and he was up to 9 last year...)

Then i started thinking... Never a good thing...

The daily i have now is a 1999 seat arosa 1.0 and while it always works and has low fuel consumption, it is just boring.

So now i am the owner of a 1970 998cc Morris mini clubman

My friend did warn me that there was some rust on the car...

The mini was painted (badly) with a land rover brown color:

The first thing i did was to chop off the front end:

Will be watching this, can't say I've seen a Micra engine in a clubman yet. The extra room will open up a lot of options to you.

265 tires is the perfect width for the mini...

20150105_183208.jpg

There was some surface rust on the torpedo wall so i removed all the paint to check the condition:

Decided that the best way was just to cut off the damaged panels and replace everything.

So i started with some bracing:

20150214_100650.jpg

I have no idea where all the rust is coming from, the canals was complitly filled:

20150215_125351.jpg

Started cutting the floor:

More bracing:

20150222_113804.jpg

Seat back gone:

20150222_115739.jpg

Found rust bubbles on the whole rear part under the window so...

20150222_123713.jpg

Really easy to reach the inner fenders now:

20150222_123719.jpg

More repairs...

20150222_132911.jpg

20150222_132923.jpg

Wanted to try to tub the rear arches, when i cut open the fenders there was a white cloud of old bondo:

20150222_140140.jpg

Gave up on the tubbing way to much rust everywhere:

The micra 1.3 is really rare in norway, luckily i found a cheap car. It did not start, turned out to be a bad dizzy.

1994 so no immobilser and i had only done 122000 km.

The car:

20150228_135353.jpg

The japanese really know how to make a boring interior:

20150228_135344.jpg

Meet your new home:

20150228_135409.jpg

Looks pretty good:

20150228_135436.jpg

The fun bit, finding all the wires that make the engine run:

20150301_143602.jpg

20150301_161328.jpg

20150301_161353.jpg

Turns out the car had been automatic originally.

Now the project is going on hold for a while.

In Norway we have very strict rules about customisation on cars so i have applied the road department for permission.

Applied 7 sweeks ago after 3 months i am allowed to check on progress...
