I recently fitted some group 2s and had to go higher than Id like to cover up the holes left by my previous arches.  I'm now thinking I need to weld up the old holes and then a bit of paintwork so that I can get them right.

One of the consequences is that it looks a little untidy as theres a gap between the arch and the original bodywork lip.  Also the front age is a couple of cm above the front bumper, looking at most grp 2 fits the front sits lower.

Should grp 2s sit pretty much on the lip of the bodywork?  Are they any guides online?

I brought some group 2's from Mini Spares, the ones which bolt into the original Mini Special arch holes. This is the best photo I've got, but at the front, they sit about 10mm from the top of the bumper.

What do you mean by "lip of the bodywork"? The vertical seam? Or the arch lip?

Sorry, I did mean the wheel arch lip.  Should the Grp 2s be sat on that?

Mine are about 1/2" to 3/4" above the arch lip :)

With the Group 2 arch extensions, the lip of the arch extension should be the same height above the horizontal body datum as the original arches. So when looked at from the side the lips of the original arches and the arch extensions will be in the same relative positions to the ground.

That is pretty much how they are and makes me feel better about how i have them.  I think mine sit a little high above the bumper at the front because the wing had been modified to accommodate larger wheels.

Looking at pics of grp 2 arches Ive now realised there are at least a couple of different types.

Mine are the Mini sport ones, like WILL16s, which tuck round the rear valance but the front one stops on or above the front bumper.

However the Mini Spares ones appear to stop at the rear seam then the front one wraps around the front valance.

Has anyone got pics of the Mini Spares Centre grp 2s they can post?

I'm going to fit MiniSport Group 2 arches - do people recommend a beading between the arch and the body - if so what have you used?

It's up to you really. The original Group 2 arch extensions were fitted to FIA Group 2 competition Minis with no beading, but these days you can add a beading if you wish. I'm sure you can easily find some on-line.
