Hello,

I'm after a trailer to transport minis and I'm considering a Brian James Bantam. I believe they are specifically made for smart cars to be towed behind motorhomes, but I think a mini would sit nicely on it. Not too sure about an estate mind /:

Just wondered whether anyone has experience with said trailer and carrying minis on it? Also would an estate fit as no point me getting a trailer for minis, that will only fit saloons! Might aswell get one that fits estate too. Don't one one overly big though!

Cheers

Jamie

when i was looking for a Brain James trailer i did consider a BJ Bantam,  i had seen pictures on the internet of minis on them but the wheels just fit so the car hangs over so an estate would hang even more

you normally have to have the mini on backward ( boot to the trailer hitch) as the trailer was designed for smart cars so the weight distribution and axle position is design for that car, as there engines are at the rear, so with an estate it may not fit . ( look at photos of the bantam and you see the axle is set more towards the back of the trailer not more centred)

i sure the bed is only 8ft something , when a mini is 10ft,

also having something hanging off the back is legal up to a certain length, but if you every reverse into something or have anyone hit you from behind its the car that would get hit and not the trailer !!!! i know what i would prefer!!!

for the price of a smart car trailer, its cheaper to buy a trailer you need,  than one which is designed for a specific car, as you find they are more expensive

even second hand prices are about the same,

but BJ trailers do hold there price well, along with all the other big brand trailer companies. so be prepared to not get one dirt cheap.

i ending up buying a BJ clubman twin axle, 11ft X 5.5ft bed, perfect for a mini, tows perfectly due to the twin axle, sits and balances well. the price over twin and single axle was only a a few hundred new, and second hand there is not much different.

i have used mine so may times , not only to move cars on, such a handy thing to have if you have the space to store it, and it will fit through a 7ft wide garage door,
